The Terriers on FX
Not fucking bad. Better than the pilot for Justified.
Dialog made me laugh in spots.

Yeah.
SoA season opener was good. At this point, though, I dislike the Jax character for being a whiny, bitch, cunt.

I give it a B with potential. I'm a sucker for PI/buddy stories. I'm in.

Second episode was weak. Beardy's dialog is getting too cutesy.

A Dojo buddy, who is also a Fed LEO comes over on Tuesday's while SOA is on, he fucking loves the show and he is not to keen on Justified, whereas I had an upbringing fairly close to SOA (minus the shot outs and hyped shit.) and fucking think Raylan is 100% cooler than Jaxs and would pistol whip him like a redheaded step child.
I like episode 2 of Terriers, them getting the shit beat out of them by Psychic's BF was great.

That did make me laugh when I saw him.

FWIW, this is my favorite new show this season.
As I said, I have a weakness for PI stories and buddy stories, and this is both.
It's serialized enough that you want to start at the beginning of the season. If you liked Rockford Files, you'll dig this.

Re: The Terriers on FX
This has really grown on me. I make an effort to watch this, SOA, and Always Sunny each week.
They're really working the character development hard on this...very similar to how they developed the character on the Shield.
I was happy to see Lem on SoA.

Re: The Terriers on FX
Latest episode, "Agua Caliente," was extremely entertaining. Reminds me of the best PI books I've read, except acted out by Donal Logue. Think they snuck in a Big Lebowski reference, which is perfect for this show.
Hope they get a second season.

Re: The Terriers on FX
The writers are doing a great job developing Logue's character, and also setting him up for some nasty shit later on, maybe, with him falling off the wagon. The dialogue is witty and entertaining.
Re: The Terriers on FX
It's become easily my favorite show airing on any network.
Written by Shawn Ryan, who created The Shield. The writers and cast are doing very, very good work.
If you like private eye stories, get up to speed on Hulu.

Might have to pick this back up. I watched the first 2 eps and it was pretty good I just deemed it not worthy of the time investment. I'll give it another look soon.

Re: The Terriers on FX
Fucking missed this last episode. It's gotten progressively better as the season went along.
Re: The Terriers on FX
No second season. FX cancelled it.
This was a damn fine season of TV storytelling, though, from Shawn Ryan who created The Shield. I've seen all the episodes but will be buying the DVD set when it comes out to rewatch.
Pretty shitty marketing on the network's part... the ads combined with the title made it seem like a show about dogs. I almost didn't tune in to what I think is the best new show this fall season.
If you like The Big Lebowski and Rockford Files, check this one out on disc.

Full theme song for the series. The bridge is weak, but that doesn't stop it from being an earworm.

Re: The Terriers on FX
I'm disappointed. I liked this show more than SoA this season.
Re: The Terriers on FX
It really took off in ep. 4, "Fustercluck." The first 3 were entertaining, but this was the oh-shit-they-can't-go-back moment. Tight as a wire through the season finale.micbk wrote:Might have to pick this back up. I watched the first 2 eps and it was pretty good I just deemed it not worthy of the time investment. I'm bummed too. Don't know why the show didn't have a bigger audience, except the ads made it look like a show about dogs.Shafpocalypse Now wrote:I'm disappointed. I liked this show more than SoA this season.
I had a DVRed episode running late last night while I did last minute gift prep, and kept getting drawn in all over again. The same thing that happens when I try that with "Miller's Crossing."

Terriers is now available to stream on Netflix. Yes, they cancelled it after one season. It was too beautiful to live.
