Mike Mahler and Ken Blackburn Workshop

Post by Shafpocalypse Now »

Mahler:

Double kettlebell lifts
-lean and strong guy. personable and affable speaker.
Hormonal optimization
-Mike's really interested in this topic and presented an overview along with practical suggestions (here's free tip: Get your 8+ hours of sleep in each night).

Blackburn:

Mobility and agility
Kettlebell sport
-Ken poisoned me with some vile tasting energy drink he wanted me to try. The hair on my arms was standing on end. It worked...it's called 1MR (one more rep) and it's readily available if you google it.

Great instruction by both guys. I enjoyed meeting Mike, very cool guy.

I was sore in odd places the next day. Part of it was some of the double kb moves I don't practice often, some if it was Blackburn's agility work and his GPP circuit.

No. And both Ken and Mike seemed disappointed I wasn't able to attend the "UFC VIEWING".

Is this available for viewing from youtube or something you could write out?

I'm pretty sure Ken's agility stuff is on youtube or at least a good representation of it.

It's basically built on the stand up and the burpee...and looks like a bit of the Sonnon shinbox stuff. It gets progressively complex.

The GPP Circuit - Ken had specific recommendations from Rudnev (and this is probably not the order they were in..done with no rest in between)

Deadlifts
Push Ups
KB side to sides
Rows
Presses
Pull Ups
Hanging Knee or Leg raises

Just like 3-4 exercises for chest, shoulders, middle back, upper back done for 3-4 circuits for 12-15 reps then 2 ab exercises for 20-25 reps.

Thanks, Shaf. What's a kb side-to-side?

Sit there on your butt with move the kb from side to side.

Also, every other GPP circuit is lower body.
