I can think of some definite uses for that girl and that chair she's on. But I'll need some rope or maybe Therabands.toddmr wrote:

See you incredible collection of idiots??? BW Squats, pushups and sprints ARE CROSSFIT!!!!!As a side note, someone I'm training is using CF to train a kiddies soccer team he has, and the advancements have been incredible: Faster, more agile, better cardiovascular capacity, etc. He doesn't have them weight training, just doing squats, other body movements, sprints instead of LSD, etc.

It's nothing that any half-decent soccer coach wouldn't know about anyway - soccer's a sprint-recovery sport not a fucking marathon. What's the deal with this Stu Christianson? He seems angry in a good way.HQ does not care what you think... as long as you pay
At the gym last night two 140lb "men" doing an overlly gay workout were telling the guy next to them how @fit is elite. Apparently if you can do a bunch of things in semi decent manner it makes you elite. I couldn't resist so I asked if you do a 4:30 marathon and deadlift 400lbs is that elite? They explained that it was more than that..I got boreb but they kept going and what I got was that if you can do MORE than a few things well, and nothing great it is elite!? I wish I could get my mind to work that way. I think it would be cool to really believe that I was trully great. No way am I ever going to hit real elite numbers in anything, so if I could get into that personality disorder where I believed I was...could be worse. On the way out the front dest kid asked about the Marlins (who do @fit) and how they went 80-82 or something mediocre...no answer. Later I found out these two assclowns are actually opening a gym (box?) and have some name that includes the words strength and conditioning. Should be fun

Raise your hands if you think barbell thrusters are the dumbest exercise in the gym.

Thrust barbell up and throw it above your head...clap your hands...catch and repeat.
I think that's what they mean...it was all I could muster to think that stupid.

That Valley Crossfit site is the most face palm inducing webpage I've been to on the interwebz in quite a while.
The cartoon portraits of the gay assed trainers...the barbell presses standing on indo boards...I want to 3-2-1 FLAMETHROWER that motherfucking place.

Big article in WSJ today on a gal doing crossfit at a NYC box. She talks about how relentlessly they focus on proper form and safety.

Yes. More expensive than Equinox.

I was going to make a remark about what kind of person can spend $400/month on that kind of stuff, but then I read and saw that she was an executive for a resort. Hell, why not? This gives her exactly what she needs and wants for a price she's willing and able to pay. She's not claiming to be elite or anything, more power to her, the only annoying thing is that @Fitters might be proud and happy that they're getting coverage when this really just shows they're another trendy boot camp program for the well-off.kreator wrote:http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142 ... ifestyle_6Hebrew Hammer wrote:Big article in WSJ today on a gal doing crossfit at a NYC box. Um, I highly doubt that they are paying 5-10 instructors to babysit 10-20 people...really."There is one instructor for every two people in class, making sure we adhere to form," says Ms. Silverman. "If you're there, you might as well get it right."
CrossFit classes usually consist of 10 to 20 people...
Also, if they are paying strict attention to form and posture...THEN THEY AREN'T DOING @F.
I just learned yesterday that an @F in my area is charging $140 for the privilege of attending TWO classes a week.
