Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Post by RyaWall »

Liked it. Nice twist to a 40 year old movie story-line. Thought Franco did pretty good in the movie. Lithgow was good. Franco's girlfriend was cute but was pointless. The corporate bad guy wasn't bad enough and seemed miscast. Fortunately, it was a movie taken from Caesar the chimp's perspective..mostly. I give it 3.5 out of 5.

Saw it Sunday. Thought they did an excellent job of setting up at least a few sequels. It wouldn't surprise me if they don't remake "Planet of the Apes" again after that shitfest that Mark Wahlberg was in back in '01.

I blame Tim Burton on the Planet of the Apes w/ Wahlberg. The whole movie is miscast. If Burton doesn't have Johny Depp then he doesn't know who the hell to hire as his lead actor.
Potential Spolier..My prediction for the next 2. Why 2 more? Coz Hollywood likes trilogies:
Movie 2. The virus that kills humans. Which they touch upon in Rise"""Apes. Will actually kill humans. Lots of them. People will blame the apes. Apes will blame the humans. Caesar will try to keep the peace between ape and man. So will Franco. Maybe they work to find a cure. Shit doesn't work. At some point in part 2 there needs to be some ape vs. man violence. Maybe some human vigilantes out for justice will attack some apes. But there needs to be some violence.
Movie 3. All out ape vs man warfare.

Nope, they'll go onto remaking other PoTA movies.

At what point realistically, will we see an ape as heavyweight champion of the UFC? Is it possible for an ape to earn a black belt in Gracie JJ and have excellent takedown defense? What about a good jab? Hammerfist should be solid. Fucking forget about trying to armbar an ape though. These are just some random thoughts.

Genetically engineered ape Spartacus IMO. The first half made me sad. I am always a sucker for the sweet (fill in animal/kid here) who you know is going to be abused and lose their innocence before they prevail later in the movie.

I've never really met an ape let alone rap with one for awhile but of all the ones I've seen in movies, on tv, or in print, I've never seen one look this stupid. If I were an ape or at least played one on tv, I'd be offended sir.

I may have crossed the line of Ape decency with that post.

Apologies all around to the apes and power bears among us.

Not an ape. Looks more like the type of animal who'd call his buddy at 2 AM EASTERN STANDARD TIME looking for a hookup.

OH SHIT!!! There's no fucking doubt Shaf and Tim S. could have hooked up for some power-bear 69'n and major league butt-fuckin'. Sorta reminds me of a T-Rex and a Triceratops on a prom date.
