WILDGORILLAMEDIA RESPONDS TO FACEBOOK INCIDENT

Two days ago, an escalating misunderstanding led to the suspension of WildGorillaMedia's Facebook account. The epicenter of the misunderstanding was @fit HQ posting the now infamous moose knuckle picture on their Facebook wall and the decision of WildGorillaMedia's CEO, Wild GorillaMan to tag PETA (People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals) in HQ's photo. 



In the wake of the suspension WildGorillaMedia's Crisis Committee has identified three likely scenarios that may have led to the incident:

a) PETA, lacking the critical mental faculties to appreciate the maxim "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" missed the point entirely and complained to Facebook. So much for basic Game Theory. 

b) HQ has a long and well documented history of bullying and character assassination of foes they perceive as defenseless, but slinking away from serious conflict. It's probable that HQ's social media personnel, faced with the potential of being targeted by a well capitalized, mobilized, militant, and entirely implacable foe, panicked and took the only option they saw to save themselves, and complained to Facebook.

c) All of the above. 

Assessment Of Impact: While embarrassing and regrettable, in the short term the loss of the WildGorillaMedia Facebook page has had no negative impact on Team Gorilla site traffic, ad revenue, or merchandise sales at WildGorillaWear. 

In fact, the groundswell of popular support from diehard Team Gorilla fans across multiple social media platforms, as well as by email and phone has been overwhelming. WildGorillaMedia's social media team is already working approved overtime to spin the buzz into new levels of popularity. 
 
Conclusions: It is the finding of the Crisis Committee and the Board of Directors that CEO Wild GorillaMan exhibited poor strategic decision making and failed to represent the interests of WildGorillaMedia's customers and shareholders to the best of his ability. A formal letter of reprimand has been placed in his personnel file with HR and he has been placed on one week's unpaid administrative leave, and this incident will be taken into consideration at year end when bonus calculations are done.
