by Erik Larson.
An account of America's ambassador to Germany (and his whore daughter) during the rise of the Third Reich. A vignette of Germany, America, and the elites of the State Department just after Hitler rises to Chancellor.
Evoked in me how the world treats Kim Jong Il and Ahmadinijad today. Interesting how America's racism inhibited Roosevelt's response to Hitler's anti-semitism. Also, plenty of anti-semitism by the Brahmins in the State Department and communist interest in infiltrating same.

Is he the same Erik Larson that is a right wing Christian nut that espoused the dangers of Heavy Metal music in the 80's?

I heard that guy a few times and could never tell if he was well meaning and unhinged or a scammer who found a cool niche from which to exploit the masses.ButterCupPowerRanch wrote:That was Bob Larson, my bad.
Erik Larson wrote "Devil In The White City" which is about the 1893 Chicago World's Fair and America's first known serial killer. I liked it a lot.

Nice review, I'll have to put this one on my reading list. Does the book discuss his daughter's turn to the left?

It gives the who and a bit of the how. More details are covered in the footnotes.Turdacious wrote:Nice review, I'll have to put this one on my reading list. Does the book discuss his daughter's turn to the left?
