So are we going to swing one big axe one time, or a small axe for 15 seconds on/off for half an hour?Frogster wrote:Viking rival dogma should be settled over a battle axe contest.
I don't have a lot of experience with vampires, but I have hunted werewolves. I shot one once, but by the time I got to it, it had turned back into my neighbor's dog.

Alfred, you're being facetious...
By the way, crossfit was on the TV news in Denmark, just a few days ago. How timely, after the new year, they should make a clip about the best way to loose fat for the general population, according to an expert:
#3 running
#2 spinning
#1 crossfit, yeah!

The funniest CF shit I have seen in a long time was the dude OH squatting his baby made it onto a VH1 clip show. It was under the heading "parenting fails".
Re: The couch thread
Phenomenal. Really.
I miss when these clips were a weekly occurrence.
Cliff notes: Despite being able to train people when you're a level one coach, you really won't know whether to shit or go blind till you shell out the duckets for a level two cert held in someones garage.

Oh, no. I think he was pimping the Couch's Prep Course, which you need to take after your level 1 but before your level 2.Beer Jew wrote:Phenomenal. Really.

Since that was filmed at Atlanta Motor Speedway, I'm assuming the Couch sighting rumors I heard about the @fit Endurance 5k were true.

Endurance 5k??!?!
When 5k becomes an endurance event for you it's really time to think about swallowing the shotgun.

I've done a 25k trail race at a decent pace finishing middle of the pack on a pretty technical course having never ran that far before and I can tell you a 5k would kill me right now.
But I guess if 3 million Jews can do it then you are right.

I talk a lot of shit about @fit but the local @fitters showed up at the Fallsfest Highlander and put in serious work. That didn't keep me from busting their balls the whole time though.

The "we're REAL @F and you ain't!" subtle digs have now begun in the @FJ:

Yes, R@@bok-masters, that was aimed directly at you.“When you grow through like what we did, it’s actually like you’re growing up. I mean you start through the infancy phase and you become a teenager and then grow into a man in that whole CrossFit world,” Grundler explains. “There’s a lot more soul to that, I think. I mean that’s the way CrossFit was supposed to be.”
He added: “If you don’t have the CrossFit heart-and-soul part down, then I think you just lose the community, you lose the whole feel, and you just become another gym, and I don’t think that’s the point. We already got plenty of those.”
Re: The couch thread
That depends what you train for obviously. I haven't run in nearly a year, but I'm pretty sure I could run 5k. It wouldn't be competitive timing at all, but then again, I don't claim to be an endurance athlete. When my ex was trying to get into better shape, (not fat at all, but you know how women are), I would randomly go running with her after not running for a few months. We would go at a fairly decent pace and run for nearly an hour straight, so given a few weeks training I don't see how 5k would be that hard.Ed Zachary wrote:Really?Beer Jew wrote:Endurance 5k??!?!

The fact that it may be difficult for people like us who never train for it, doesn't make it a legitimate endurance event on its own IMO. A 25k on the other hand- that's endurance. Respect for even finishing that. I reckon I would have just sat down half way through and demanded a beer. How long did it take you?

Don't be a fucking queer.
Running a competitive 5K is a short, brutal race.
A 400m isn't endurance, but an 800m is.
If you fucking lollygag, sure it's easy.
Just like when the Fictional Hand Strempf guy talked about doing a 5k in 33 minutes like it was some kind of accomplishment for a former collegiate football player in his mid-20s.

Re: The couch thread
I agree with Shaf. Whether it's endurance or not depends entirely on how hard you go at it. After you get to a distance that can't be run on pure fast twitch sprint, it's endurance if you run it at limit. I've run half marathons in around 2 hours that I wouldn't call "endurance" because I wasn't even breathing hard at the end due to the slow pace. I've run 5k's in 18:XX minutes that left me holding my knees for a few minutes after the race and sore for a few days after.

Michigan.

Re: The couch thread
Fair enough. I think we're defining endurance differently. I would look at endurance as an event that can be a struggle just to finish, like a marathon, or 100 km, never mind place competitively in. I've never competed in one so I could very well be wrong though.

Re: The couch thread
Bob, if that former defensive lineman got a spot on the team, mostly, perhaps, because of the extensive old boy network of HIT coaches in place at the time, you might be onto something there.

I understand about the twinkies. Twinkies suck. But insofar as "treats" go I like cookies and I eat them unapologetically. Anybody who refuses cookies baked by his wife or his girlfriend because "IT MIGHT DERAIL MY UBER-HEALTHY LIFESTYLE AND MAKE MY ABZZ GO AWAY" is a pussy.Shafpocalypse Now wrote:New Years Crossfitters on Facebook:

Straight up truthiness. I eat pretty "healthy", but if I don't get my desert at night I'm a pissed off dude. I think I keep Breyers in business just off mint chocolate chip sales alone.Dr. Agkistrodon wrote:I understand about the twinkies. Twinkies suck.
