Up The Irons

Post by Alfred_E._Neuman »

Maiden mothafukas! Betta rekonize!!!

One of my favorite bands of all time is finally doing a US tour worth a shit, and for some reason gracing Atlanta with their presence. Tickets on sale Saturday morning.
I don't have a lot of experience with vampires, but I have hunted werewolves. I shot one once, but by the time I got to it, it had turned back into my neighbor's dog.

Saw them in 08, you could close your eyes and they sounded just like the Live After Death LP. Fucking great show.

I also got a kick at all of us Bangers who have grown up, the fact that the cars in the lot were of a higer caliber than they would have been at the same show 20 years ago. ( I commented to a dude about his sweet Volvo S-80 and he said "Last time I saw Maiden I drove up in a Pacer." and how many people brought their kids. I willl be bringing my oldest to see Maiden this year. All my kids like the Flight 666 DVD.

I normally hate bands with 3 guitarist but Maiden makes it work, I really like Janicks playing, he holds up well with Murray and Smith.

And Bruce can still hit every fucking note of Number and Icarus. The man is awesome and my kid was impressed with the fact that here is a man who is a World class musician, a qualified Air line pilot, an author and a training partner to the British Fencing team. He gives a good example of what I try to raise my kids to be. Well rounded intelectually, physically and artisticly.

UP THE FUCKING IRONS!

Watched it with my 4 year old. She rocked out hard to it. Much to the wife's dismay I am raising a headbanger.

I've wanted a Steve Harris signature bass (blue with a wine pickguard) for so long...

Played one, a bit of a fucking beast, kind of fights you a little (But do so Strats and there is reward in the effort.)

It is actually set up with flat wound strings, Harris uses this and after you know that his speed is that much more amazing.

The only negative I have with hariis is that his tone kind of sucks, I always boost the low end when listening to Maiden to compensate.

Bought tickets for a show in western WI. A day later I find out they are playing on July 4 at Summerfest. My cup runneth over.

Probably 75% of the songs I listen to while lifting are Maiden.

Got my tickets Bichos!!!

Maiden is pretty much duplicating the Maiden England tour from 88. Can't wait to hear some of those songs live.

Alice Cooper is opening. Haven't seen him since the Trash tour in 89.

Tonight MoFo's!!! Image

Got me a bottle of Woodford Reserve for the pre-show festivities. Looked up the set list from the first show in Charlotte, NC and they're playing pretty much every classic you could want to hear. Should be good times.
