Sadly, if Trayvon had been shot by a Brother (!), he wouldn't warrant one line of national news coverage. And none of his "Brothers" and "Sisters" would give one little shit. And Jessie Jackson wouldn't be calling Trayvon a martyr.
The uproar is about the White Establishment letting a "White Hispanic" shoot a 17 year old black kid.
The bonus for the news media is the attack on the "Stand Your Ground" law, which didn't provide any particular excuse for Zimmerman to shoot. But it did bar the police from arresting him without "probable cause" to believe he committed a crime. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stand-your-ground_law
In the 911 calls that have been released, Mr. Zimmerman is heard deciding, against the advice of the dispatcher, to follow Trayvon, whom he deemed “up to no good.”
In Mr. Zimmerman’s sequence of events to the police, he returned to his S.U.V. after he was unable to find him, Trayvon then approached Mr. Zimmerman from behind and they exchanged words. Then, Mr. Zimmerman said, Trayvon hit him hard enough that he fell to the ground — which, if true, would explain what Mr. Zimmerman’s lawyer, Craig Sonner, has said was a broken nose — and began slamming his head into the sidewalk.

Zimmerman must be a torn man right now. His Mexican side is embracing the inner-fugitive need to get away, but his Jew side is looking at that $10,000 reward and wringing its hands. The guy must be an emotional wreck right now. It's like having the little angel and devil arguing on your shoulders, but instead of an angel and devil it's a fat, greasy beaner and a slimy, hunchbacked, yid-eyed kike.

If Zimmerman had been arrested, the cops wouldn't have been doing their job. In FL, once someone claims self defense, cops need probable cause that it was not self defense before making an arrest.
I don't see anything that would provide that probable cause, meaning an arrest would have violated Zimmerman's rights under Florida law. But that's exactly what the Irreverend Jackson and the ignorant hoodie protestors want. So, I guess you're right.

Goddamnit it pisses me off when a backwoods army guy type makes the most pertinent point about the whole situation. As far as the media and the rainbow coalition are concerned, it has nothing to do with a young life ended, everything to do with race.
The term "white hispanic" is definitely a newly coined term meaning "upon reading the first police report, we were certain that Zimmerman had to be a white guy, only later did we find out he is also a minority."

Part of this is me repeating what I heard other PD veterans saying, so Lie Nap or others may have better knowledges, but the problem is the police on the scene didn't seem to investigate at all.
A dead kid with a bullet hole in his chest is probable cause to investigate. At a minimum, they should have checked the neighborhood, where a lot of minorities live, to see if anybody was short a kid. Z$ should have been tested for drugs and alcohol.
Instead, they appear to have taken what the shooter claimed at 100% face value without corroboration. It didn't occur to the officers that Z might have killed his neighbor. It's hard to imagine them being this lax if the kid had been white, even though there were black families in the neighborhood.

Peruvians are not Beaners. Show me his Ancestry.com report? Zimmerman is a commom Geman name, not necessarily a Jewish surname. Ignoramus!
To arrest someone for a crime, the police need probable cause to believe that he committed the crime. But what if it’s clear that the person committed the act (e.g., intentionally killed someone), but it seems likely that he has a good affirmative defense (e.g., self-defense)? ....
Florida law, though, clearly resolves this: “A law enforcement agency … may not arrest [a] person for using force [in a self-defense situation] unless it determines that there is probable cause that the force that was used was unlawful.”
So in Florida, the police must have probable cause to believe that the defendant wasn’t acting in lawful self-defense in order to arrest the defendant. It’s not enough to say, “we have probable cause to believe that you killed the victim, so we’ll arrest you and then sort out later how strong your self-defense case is.”
The police did investigate. They took witness statements that only became public after the media frenzy over a "white" guy killing a black honor student in "cold blood". Along with Zimmerman's injuries and grass stains on the back of his shirt, they had at least one witness statement that corroborated his claim that he was on the ground, being beaten and yelling for help. I don't know if they could have legally tested a guy for drugs and alcohol if they didn't have probable cause for an arrest, but it's clear that they did a lot more than notice that the dead kid was black and send Zimmerman on his way.
The people who are calling for an arrest without explaining what the probable cause might be are irresponsible at best. The funny thing is that some of them pretend to care about civil liberties.

Zimmerman told the cops he had a no knock warrant. That makes it ok right?

Pink, Z$'s story of "I got out of my car to check the street name and that's when he jumped me" was suspicious. He'd lived there a long time and there are only four streets in his community. The need to both get out of a car to read a street sign while losing track of the kid is weird. He'd been actively following the kid, but claims he didn't confront him. Rather, the kid decided to attack an adult male 80-100 pounds heavier than him, outside his car, giving Z justification to shoot him (in his neighbor's backyard?).
The PD consultants seemed to think that the cops on the scene should have found this story less-than-probable. The more likely scenario is Zimmerman confronted the kid and something happened.

All of the experts agree that they are smarter than the cops who investigated the case. We will see - the state has taken over the investigation, and the feds are involved.
Apparently, the confrontation did not start & end at the same place. So maybe the initial contact was at Z's truck. The investigation will tell. The dumb, stupid, inept, racist local cops may have even already determined where the initial contact occurred.

The lead homicide investigator in the shooting of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin recommended that neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman be charged with manslaughter the night of the shooting, multiple sources told ABC News.
But Sanford, Fla., Investigator Chris Serino was instructed to not press charges against Zimmerman because the state attorney's office headed by Norman Wolfinger determined there wasn't enough evidence to lead to a conviction, the sources told ABC News.
