I haven't read the books, though they're on my reading list after the next 10 books or so I have to get through, but I'm pretty pumped for this season.

The books are awesome. Each individual chapter is based around an individual character and a few supporting characters so it's not too bad. Even though Joffrey is a resilient as a little roach I'm afraid he'll get his due at some point but you'd better not get attached to too many characters since they die like a motherfooker.
