Gotye - great song and video

Post by Thatcher II »

So I'm not that up to speed, but saw this recently. Yeah it's probably been out for ages. Great track and great video. Reminds me of 80s videos like Cry by Godfrey and Cream. Or Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel.

It's great to be first at last

Surprisingly, I also like it a lot. Sting, meets Peter Gabriel meets world music. Between him and Adele and a couple of others, maybe popular music isn't dead.

"Surprisingly"?

I think there's decent stuff out there but it's hard to find / sift. You might like this also. Totally different. But a unique voice. Massive Attack with timpani and unique Cockney style. This is what YID would sound like if he had a note in his head:

I usually turn anything off that starts with a synthesizer but that last one was decent.

The Peter Gabriel comparison is valid and comes up a lot, but he's also reminiscent of post-Yes Ian Anderson.

Eh, Ian Anderson was in Jethro Tull, do you mean Jom Amderson?

My Ol'Lady loves that song. As soon as I heard it I did think Peter Gabriel must have fucked this guy's mother back in the day because both his voice and the music reminds me of something from Digging in the Dirt.

I like Gabriel more and more as I get old(er).
