Regardless of the truthiness of this video, I think I'm going to stop watching stuff like this. The effect doesn't seem to help me prepare for personal disaster. Instead, I just get anxious over how bad such an accident would affect me and mine, and then I've gotta shake the anxiety every time I'm in the car and I happen to think of this video. Fucking internet.
There are apps that let your smartphone record continuously and in 30 or 60 second intervals, kind of like a blackbox on aircraft. They're popular because they can be a cheap way to document traffic accidents or law enforcement stops and whatnot.
They also catch a ton of freaky accidents.

I heard dashboard cameras are common in Russia to fight fake insurance claims.
And let’s not forget SHAF the pajama clad postulator extolling opinions on a dozen different fitness forums 10 to 12 hours a day including major holidays.
