I don't anymore. Statistically, our societies today are orders of magnitude less brutal than ancient civilizations. I would recommend you stop blaming TV, iPhones and gays and just blame the individual for committing these horrific acts. Instead, a more practical solution would be to decide what policy and controls might make someone not willing to do something like this.
Are all humans born equal? No. Does every human have the same path, obstacles, opportunities and talents in life? No. Does every human have the ability to do both good and bad? Yes. Saying someone is born to be the way they are is lazy and passive. Even the worst of children from the worst of backgrounds with the worst of odds against them can follow a positive path in life if they are taught and molded right. The problem is that most people are only good for sticking their dick in things or taking it up the yah-yoo, but very few are good at raising, developing, nurturing, and caring for what develops from such acts.

You can plant the best seed from the finest plant and it'll wither or die if it doesn't have the right conditions, soil, sunlight, etc. Human beings are no different. No matter how great or horrible a seed is, something good can come from it or it can be fucked up beyond repair, depending on how it's raised.

Blaming genetics for our problems is the coward's way. Whether you choose to accept it or not, TV, iPhones, gays, and many other ills of modern society all play a part in fucking with young peoples' minds and leading them astray. When a kid grows up not knowing what a man is because they're all painted up queers prancing around town with their satchel bags, and doesn't know what a woman is because they're all man-hating, indoctrinated feminist whores who spread their legs for half their college classmates, and doesn't know what friendship is because they've never held a conversation that can't be contained within the parameters of a tweet or a poke or any other "social media" nonsense; then, yes, kids do grow up fucked in the head. But keep burying your head in the sand and pretending like none of that has any effect. You wouldn't want your fellow yuppies to look down on you as a bigot when you're swapping barbequing tips and comparing fuel economy results on your Subaru wagons.

I don't think there are more cases of these spree killers. I think the incidents are over reported now. This kind of thing has always happened but now we get all the news, all the time.

36 hour a day news channels need something to fill time and this stuff is certainly sensational.

It all started with Hinckley shooting Reagan. Which was a national news event but played unendingly until it was an easy target for Saturday Night Live.

I mean, fuck every shark attack or sighting in the world gets 2 minutes, if that had happened when I was a kid I would have never gone in the ocean. Perhaps we should ban unnecessary media sensationalism.

Cowardly? You're the one giving the kid a pass and blaming it, instead, on his mom, Steve Jobs, and Jezebel.

Dr. Michael Stone, professor of clinical psychiatry at the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City, . . . has closely examined the minds of 208 mass murderers. “Usually you’re dealing with an angry, dissatisfied person who has poor social skills or few friends, and then there is a trigger that sets them off.”

311,000,000 people + relatively free access to guns will result in relatively frequent gun violence on a small scale and, thankfully, infrequent gun violence on a large scale.

Only restricting access to guns will have much of an affect on a reduction in gun violence.

It is a horrible gut wrenching atrocity that will get tons of attention from those who want to "do something!". The "something" that immediately comes to mind is to have the government restrict our freedoms. Maybe there are actions that can be taken around the margins to reduce the probability of this type of incident, but that's about as far as it goes unless we want to become like Europe and put the hammer down on gun ownership.

Libs seem to think that's a good thing, I don't.

Good point. IMO it easier to restrict legal gun ownership (i.e. who are less likely to use them to commit crimes) but harder to restrict illegal gun ownership (i.e. the gun owners who are more likely to use them to commit crimes).

Michael Welner, a forensic psychiatrist who, as chairman of the Forensic Panel of New York City has studied and testified about mass shootings, said these cases invariably feature a person who is highly paranoid, resents the broader community and decides to kill out of a desire to achieve notoriety.

“They’re people who are unfailingly unable to form satisfying sexual attachments, and their masculinity essentially gets replaced with their fascination for destruction,” Welner said. “The overwhelming majority of folks who do this are male because of how, in our culture, masculine identity is so closely tied to the capacity to destroy.”

But Jeffrey Swanson, a professor at Duke University School of Medicine who is an expert on violence and mental illness, said people should not jump to conclusions about why a person becomes a mass killer.

“They tend to be young and male and tend to be sort of isolated. The problem with that is that there are tens of thousands of people who meet the same description and never do anything like this,” Swanson said.

Mass shootings like this are shocking and garner a lot of attention, but they sadly represent a very small fraction of homicides in the U.S. We hear calls for policy changes every time one of these tragedies happens, but there's no reason to believe that most proposals aimed at mass shootings (e.g., banning high-capacity magazines) would have a noticeable effect on the overall homicide rate.

The exception might be calls for better mental health treatment, especially if we count suicides along with murder and manslaughter.

Did you bother to price 6,000 rounds of 223 ammo and a NIB AR-15 clone?

http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/prod ... s_id/36913 $960.00 before transfer, taxes and dealer fees.

Oh, and Joe.... the last time I purchased "bulk" ammo in these quantities my local Police Department got a phone call. That was in the 1980s. With "Data Mining" I'm sure that the Man has an easier time today finding out.

This boy must have been eating out of dumpsters to afford his "stockpile" if he was collecting UC.

Saying "I was born this way" is the exact opposite of taking personal accountability.

When I was a little kid I would often steal toys and other little trinkets from friends. Stuff that I figured they wouldn't miss. In my mind it was okay, because these were things they never played with anyway. When I came home once with pockets stuffed with toys and my parents finally found out I was stealing, the punishment was clear and severe. They made it clear that stealing is unacceptable behavior. From that point on, I never even considered stealing another thing.

Was I born a thief? I'll leave that to your scientists to figure out after mooching on millions in grant money. Did my parents beat the thief right out of me? Yes, they did. If they had let me slide because they were too busy not being parents, I'd probably be in jail today talking about how I was born to steal.

Regardless of your genetics, parenting has an effect. Not every kid will respond to the same type of parenting, which is why one mold doesn't fit all and why proper parenting is so tough, but EVERY kid, no matter how screwed up genetically, can be groomed for good as opposed to evil. Methinks some of you just have spoiled-ass brats and try to pass off your failure as a parent as the kids being born that way.

On one hand, I don't care if "100-round clips" aren't available for my purchase. I think they're fairly retarded.
On the other, I wish people understood that 3x30 (GI standard mags) isn't that different from 1x100 in the end - reloading an AR is not the most difficult task in the world.

By Kraj's argument, he'd be gay if his parents had spanked him everytime he looked a girl growing up.

You don't blame the kid. You blame the kid's genes.

Your genetics can only take you so far. Parenting, habits, environment, discipline -- those are the things that will determine who you are in much greater degree than what your genes are. There are kids born with the genes to be the next Olympic champion out there who are wasting away as fat slobs in front of a TV somewhere because their parents raised them that way. There are kids who are overachieving way beyond their natural abilities because of drive and work ethic that was instilled in them by proper parenting.

Does any of this absolve the child of guilt? No, it doesn't. The question wasn't who's guilty, though. The question was what makes kids become what they are.
protobuilder wrote:By Kraj's argument, he'd be gay if his parents had spanked him everytime he looked a girl growing up.
Most definitely. You're an idiot if you believe that punishing a boy for looking at girls wouldn't fuck up their sexuality in some way.

No, I blame the kid, his genes are just a, let's say 50%, reason why he has landed in a place for me to blame. Amazingly, I've specifically said this already, but yet you keep accusing me of it.
Kraj 2.0 wrote:Parenting, habits, environment, discipline -- those are the things that will determine who you are in much greater degree than what your genes are.
So, you should have just answered "yes" when I asked about the "blank slate" a long time ago. You do believe people are mostly a blank slate, moldable by their upbringing. I disagree nowadays. The way an imperfect nature miswired you has much more to do with how you behave or what you are like than most people have thought for the last few decades. Of course, for the many-th time, this genetic make-up is not the only factor.

If you're so wedded to freedom to carry arms, then go with it properly and oblige everyone by law to carry and do a minimum of practice. Things will settle down in a few years when everyone realises that shooting gets you shot.

Letting people carry if they want to stacks things against ordinary good people.
It's great to be first at last
