Cash six figure advertising checks from other artist's stolen material

Basically, The Oatmeal made fun of FunnyJunk, who then threatened to sue them for $20k. The response was that The Oatmeal would raise that amount of money from donations, take pictures of it, send the FunnyJunk attorney pictures of the money along with a comic strip of his mom having sex with a Kodiak Bear and then donate the entire amount to charity. The result? $211k+ raised the donated to charity and.....

I still don't get it. If he donated the money, why is it laying around on his apartment floor?

A Kodiak bear's head would be much bigger, proportionally. This story has a lot of holes.
