He pulled it together. More a case of mental burn out. Bad ass competitor.

Lochte is bitching that his non pool training beat him down.

Today Michael Phelps secured his third gold medal of London 2012 and the 21st Olympic medal of his career.

What gives?
The media needed to stir up some drama. It's not as exciting if Phelps steamrollers everyone as expected, so let's say he's "tired" or "burned out" or "over the hill" that way they have a come from behind story to chatter about.

I hadn't seen Lochte's complaints. Pre-Olympics he was bragging about his "strongman" training--tire-flipping and such. He seems arrogant and, it appears, dumb.

Phelps retains a unaffected charm--the goofy grin. I think he might genuinely have fun racing. Of course, it's always more fun when you win.

This makes a lot of sense.

If you want to make even more sense, comment on the likelihood of a 16-year old girl hitting a 5 second PR, shattering the Summer Games record and closing faster than the men's winner.

Sure. Americans scream drugs whenever they don't win. Americans don't do drugs - they just say no (unless they fail a drug test).

In all seriousness, China has no corner on the drug market and drugs or not she's freaking amazing.

Here's the thing about swimming - I think, in general, swimming is a sport with relatively little PED use. BUT, there are plenty that use in the U.S. and those that don't have absolutely no idea about those that do.

Who uses and who doesn't? I have no idea, but I make no assumptions, nor care, one way or the other.
