Despite all of the well-deserved bashing that cops receive here and elsewhere, the evidence actually does suggest that more cops leads to less crime.
Good luck, Camden.
Good luck, Camden.

Hmmmm...when I rolled through Camden in the spring I had no idea it was such an epic shithole. Frankly, felt sketchier in Philly.

This is not a quality of law enforcement issue. This is economics. The city doesn't give a fuck about providing quality protection it only cares about its budget.

Difficult to have a quality budget with a low tax base and a high poverty rate:Ed Zachary wrote:This is not a quality of law enforcement issue. This is economics. The city doesn't give a fuck about providing quality protection it only cares about its budget.
http://www.camconnect.org/datalogue/poverty_handout.pdfAccording to the 2005 ACS, 44% of the people in Camden live in poverty. This is the highest percentage of people living in
poverty for cities with over 65,000 people. However, the 90% confidence interval* for Camden shows that the range of possible values for Camden overlaps with those of other cities.
My guess is that the recent recession has hit Camden harder than the surrounding areas.
