Speaking by phone Tuesday from an undisclosed location, writer and director Sam Bacile remained defiant, saying Islam is a cancer and that the 56-year-old intended his film to be a provocative political statement condemning the religion.

The two-hour movie, “Innocence of Muslims,” cost $5 million to make and was financed with the help of more than 100 Jewish donors, said Bacile, who wrote and directed it.

Maybe the movie was just really, really bad? I remember seeing Quantum of Solace and I was really angry afterwards and drove home with my wife in uneasy silence. The plot was far-fetched, the acting wooden.... It really didn't match up to Casino Royale in any meaningful way. I probably wouldn't have murdered on account of it but a riot would have fit the bill exactly given my displeasure.

I do, because if there is a fifth column or third party trying to play the US off potential strategic allies with low-budget demagoguery it is useful to be aware of the fact. A hypothetical example would be Mossad sending operatives to the US to create this film so that it could drive a wedge between the US and Islamic nations.
