My wife took Esperanto classes as a child, and I think her father still has the Serbo-Croatian text books, I've seen them when I visit. Tito was a fan and promoted it in conjunction with the Conference of Non-Aligned States, which was his brainchild.

That's really interesting - other totalitarians (esp CCCP) discouraged it for various reasons.
