Re: Lance concedes, likely to lose titles...
saw a brief interview with hincapie after his final race today. asked about his most memorable moments as a pro cyclist for almost 20 years, he didn't mention the tour. judging from his answer, there is nothing memorable in cycling.
bob roll, the interviewer, didn't ask about lance.
lance is persona not grata. former teammates hincapie, vande velde, leipheimer are still in the game. like lance, they never tested positive. but somehow, unlike lance, they're clean.

Because the original post made no sense, I reordered it like a nonsense verse poem (think Jabberwocky).dead man walking wrote:saw a brief interview with hincapie after his final race today

Using metrical lines or another recognized poetic pattern may help next time.

Lance has OFFICIALLY lost nothing.

I am utterly pleased with Lance in this mess. He doped. I'd question his desire to win if he didn't.

Lance should have rode with playing cards stuck in his spokes to make cool "fuck you" noises for all of France.

The best argument for LA doping is the fact that he would do anything to win.Blaidd Drwg wrote:I am utterly pleased with Lance in this mess. He doped. I'd question his desire to win if he didn't.
A follow-up in any interview of a top athlete who says that they have never doped should be "why not"?

But not Lance. And no matter what the USADA says all the other alphabet agencies can still say "no, we wont follow your recommendations and strip away his victories". And if they do strip him it could be the end of them.
Also, stripped of his titles, LA has no reason to stay silent about anything...

I am continually amazed at how obvious and powerful the art of saying nothing is lost on people both individually and collectively.

I think some kind of stature of limitations might make sense in here somewhere as well. Something that says if you want to rat out your team mate (for something you were evidently also involved in to have such first hand knowledge) you have to do it when it happens - not wait until everyone's careers are over and years and years have passed and no proof positive is possible any more.

That or it was a guilty consience that came to a head since he is retiring this year. Or it could be the fact that Lance was such a fucking dick that Hincapie wanted to take one last parting shot.dead man walking wrote:feds squeezed it out of hincapie, et al would be my bet

In before "everybody in cycling bribes people" comments.According to ABC’s Four Corners program, Australian cycling star Phil Anderson witnessed Armstrong bribing a member of another team in order to fix a series of three races that, if swept, earned the victor $1 million. The Philadelphia Inquirer identified the event as the 1993 CoreStates Pro Cycling race, held in Philadelphia, and said Anderson told them that he remembered an offer being made.

What would piss me off more than anything if I was Lance, is the thronging ignoranti now going around saying and believing that taking drugs means that his achievements were easy and anyone could do that. Drugs were 4% or less of the picture in any one season. The rest was training, dieting, rest and mental fortitude on a Herculean scale. But that'll all be washed away now with "drugs cheat". That would piss me off no end. For evah. Like totally seriously?
It's great to be first at last

What I don't get is all the yellow wrist band wearing types who were/are stunned that the man juiced/doped. The Lanceabees (amateur cyclists.....and I know a few), in particular.

If you are a professional athlete and you aren't taking any PED's at all, whether for recovery, prolonging your career, contract year, etc. you are foolish.

Re: Lance concedes, likely to lose titles...
If an athlete claims they are 100% clean, a reporter should come back with "why?". I could see an absolute freak saying that they didn't need them and you could argue that illegal is another issue, but still.Jay wrote:If you are a professional athlete and you aren't taking any PED's at all, whether for recovery, prolonging your career, contract year, etc. you are foolish.
I have a friend who played in the NFL a few years, mostly on special teams and he said that the percent of players who weren't hooked/using/abusing something or the other was around 0.

Re: Lance concedes, likely to lose titles...
NFL and juice? What a joke and of course just about all juice hard. Those fucking guys are all monsters by season two if they make it that far. Nevermind the massive O and D lines, look at today's typical D-back or WR even, they are all more diesel than any linebacker from the 1980's. Then, look at retired LB Dahanni Jones who is doing TV for travel channel these days and see how much homie has shrunk and come back to earth.Terry B. wrote: I have a friend who played in the NFL a few years, mostly on special teams and he said that the percent of players who weren't hooked/using/abusing something or the other was around 0.
We just need to get over ourselves and let people use PED's and weed without penalty.
