An I don't see Disney doing any better with the franchise.
What is this #7 shit even supposed to be about?
...and for the Donald Maul toy, Lucas said something somewhere along the lines of "I'm not a film maker, I market toys".
Now, I'm not calling bullshit on your opinion that the flick kicked total ass. Because frankly, the special effects were fucking amazing, the fight between Palpatine and Yoda (I feel) bested some of the greatest standoffs of modern, special-effects-laden cinema- like Morpheus and Neo's duel in the Matrix (awesome scene in it's own right), and other such details YES, they did indeed kick ass.
But COMETHEFUCK ON! I'm a Jiu Jitsu white belt and I could have kicked Anakin/Vader's ass! Anakin/Vader with no cock and balls equals faggotry.
I grew up looking up to Darth Vader. That bullshit ruined it for me.
On this I am going to defend Lucas. Because if you were really into Vader, Lucas both in the films and publicly hinted at (and took no issue when Joseph Campbell nailed it) Anakin Skywalker was a disturbed, emotionally stunted individual and for all his balls and abilities his emotions and his ego got the better of him.
Just like real 22 year olds with alot of ability and reknown.
Add the fact that he started life as a fucking slave and for all his Jedi powers, he was too busy solving everyone else's problems to be there when his mother needed him.
Fuck all if he was going to let that happen to his wife and child.
I think Lucas did a good job in showing this while still keeping it something most kids could go see, just as he hads that balance with 4,5 and 6.
I actually want to see someone redo them all , in order, starting in about 10 or so years. Then they can make sure Luke is the badass on film that he would have been.
But now it could all work out for the best or it's game over. I was hoping he was the kind that would turn it over to his kids or an understudy.
