Nordic Crime Drama/With random Car shows
If you are at all a fan of the understated BBC approach to crime/mystery dramas there are some decent offerings on Netflix.
First y'all might like Wallander.
There's a UK version that is decent.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1178618/
I like the Swedish version better.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0907702/
The pacing in both is distinctly Scandinavian. It's no Trollhunter...but it's pretty decent if you're all dried up on Inspector Frost, Luther or Midsomer Murders

LOL
I'm just getting into it. I spent too many years working on other peoples cars and became a negative gear head.

Re: Nordic Crime Drama
Funny Darth, you were one of the folks I thought might like some of the Scandinavian based crime/mystery. All of it is a bit slow compared to the US or BBC offering but it has a refreshing bleakness to it.DARTH wrote:I started watching Wallander recently (Brannagh) and it's pretty good.
Along those lines...The Pusher series? (Danish, II is probably the best) A Somewhat Gentle Man (Norwegian) or Wire in the Blood (BBC) ? You try any of those?

If you can find the finish film "Rööperi" with subtitles,it is well worth a watch.I liked "The pusher" as well.

Not yet but if I come across any of them I;ll give it a watch.
So far an episode and a 3rd of Wallander and 2 of the " Girl Who.." books, need to sit down with #3, I stopped 1.4 into it when I went on a 2 week guitar binge and have yet to pick it up.
I did see that Luther was on my On Demand options so I'll check it. BTW They finally showed "Ashes to Ashes" on WETA UK a week back. Fucking great. Between Gilchrist's "Piss off" wit and Keely Hawes sweet posh tits it was fun tv.

The Horseman and Restrepo are two things I've watched that I loved but will never watch again.

I grok...but trust me. The way it unfolds those elements is not gratuitously disturbing or fuct up.
I think it's one of the more important films about the nature of fatherhood in the last 25 years....but keep anyone under 30 away from it.

Re: Nordic Crime Drama
Yeah that's what makes it so fucking disturbing. No gratuitous violence, it leaves it up to you to fuck up yourself.

true...splain Shape..
Clarkson being a cock is the schtick. They really don't do cars well, they don't do tech well, and they don't do motorsport...JC being a dick is the wholedeal. Without that I don't see the point.

Good summary. I concur. If you like the Swedish version look up some Italian crime thing the BBC are currently running. Not quite as dark, but dark enough to be decent.Blaidd Drwg wrote:If you are at all a fan of the understated BBC approach to crime/mystery dramas there are some decent offerings on Netflix.
