What do you read to your kids?
I'm looking for some recommendations on what to read to my son. We do read the usual suspects -- Seuss, Carle, any board book he feels like chewing on), but I'd like some different stuff that doesn't necessarily have to be a children's book (no pron, EZ and company) or even a baby book; he's 4 months old, and really anything will do for him.
Here's a picture of my little juggernaut for your troubles.

The absolutely gorgeous baby Jack is a bit young for these books, but stow them in your wheel house for later. My kids loved these books from the point when they could read and still love them, and they made them a whiz at history!
I learned more from reading these books than I ever did in school.

"Where the Wild Things Are" and "The Giving Tree" were favorites with the pre-reading children.

Add "Old Turtle" to the above two...He won't have a clue at that age, but the kids have loved that book without stoppage.Screaming Flying Monkey wrote:"Where the Wild Things Are" and "The Giving Tree" were favorites with the pre-reading children.
"Good Night, Good Night, Construction Site" is a big hit with my son and I'd imagine your little one will like the images.
The "Bing Bunny" books if you can find them.
The "Llama Llama" books.

Re: What do you read to your kids?
When my kids were a bit older I read all of the Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, a lot of the classics, to them out loud. We read at bed time and on long car rides. It was wonderful. I can't wait for grandchildren!!

I second Good Night Moon.
Stuff with good rhythm and rhymes they seem to appreciate. Sandra Boynton's books are awesome.

Mostly, he'll like pictures. Show him pictures and just tell him stories. Especially pictures of babies and smiling people. They can recognize smiles at this age. :)
