Assload of comic books what to do?
So I inherited 7-8 of those long boxes of comic books when my brother kicked it. I don't read comics the ones I do read I already have (Lobo & Pitt). Most of them were bought in the 80s-90s. Thor, Spiderman, Xmen, DNAgents, the list goes on. What do I need to do to sell them? Most of them are in plastic covers already. Do I just catalog them and hit the comic book stores or would I be better served with Ebay / Craigslist? I am tempted to just go to Half Priced books and see what they can give me. Any way thanks in advance.

Sit on them and then do your research, you might have some $$$ there. One thing though is that comics are not as inflated in value these days as in the mid 1990's. You might want to sit on a few for a decade or so?

Comic books are a tough sell. Unless they are very old (60's or early 70's) you probably aren't going to get much for these comics. The exception is if it introduces a character (ie the Punisher) or the character goes through a major change ( ie when Spider Man changed costumes).
Your best bet to sell these is to put an add on Craigslist and sell locally. A comic book store isn't going give you anything for these and Ebay you have to deal with shipping. At best you will probably make maybe $0.50 a book.
In the end like all collectibles, they are only worth what someone is willing to pay you for them.

Take care and please.....................stay safe.

Comics aren't worth shit anymore. Even many from the 70's sell for next to nothing;unless of course you have Giant Size X-Men #1 or something like that.
I got rid of my old collection about 5 years ago, and the fortune I thought I was sitting on never materialized.
I should have just donated them to a children's hospital.

This may be bassakwards ...but a couple years ago, I ran across a bunch of model train stuff from my father I had been saving. I put it out in a garage sale...big box labeled train stuff. Bunch of collector types offered me 20 and 30 bucks, I waited for the first kid who was interested and sold it to him for a buck. It was more fun than the 50-100 bucks I could have extracted from a collector.

Yep. And any & all price guides WAY overstate their value. I just gave a couple long boxes to a buddy of mine who still fucks with collecting individual issues. The space they were taking up is worth more to me. I strictly fucks wit tpbs & hardcovers.cleaner464 wrote:Comics aren't worth shit anymore.

If you're willing to have them hang out with you a little while, then group them and put some of them in lots on eBay (the X-men as a lot, etc) using "Buy It Now". Some of the stuff will garner interest. But much of it will not be of any interest to buyers; there were a lot of crap comics in the 90s. You can probably ditch the rest at a local store for maybe $20 a long box.Holeyfraggaroley wrote:Do I just catalog them and hit the comic book stores or would I be better served with Ebay / Craigslist?

I think there might be some Groo. I will have to look. He buy some random shit sometimes. I guess I will catalog it all and check around some more. Surprisingly there a bunch of comic book stores in area. I might even go a BD route and take a box or two to the Childrens Hospital. Thanks for the input.

But the kid was Jewish so he ended up selling the train set he just bought from you to the collectors for a cool profit. Great job getting swindled.Blaidd Drwg wrote:This may be bassakwards ...but a couple years ago, I ran across a bunch of model train stuff from my father I had been saving. Either donate to kids or send them to soldiers who are deployed.
Unless you want to list every single issue individually and hustle your ass off you won't make any money.

Plus if you donate can't you write off the face value or projected value on your taxes?

See what they're worth-- there are guides online that you can use. The idea to give most of them to a children's hospital is a good one. If you're not interested in the better stories-- give them to a kid who is into comic books.Holeyfraggaroley wrote:So I inherited 7-8 of those long boxes of comic books when my brother kicked it.
