My Dad was at work on Dec. 7th. They were listening to the radio when the news of the attack came on. One of the older gentlemen there said, "we'll whip the Japs in six months." In 1946 when my Dad got back he looked up that said same gent and said, "that was the longest six months I ever saw." He bought my Dad a beer after work.

The last time at was at Pearl Harbor I went to the Arizona Memorial. It is very powerful to begin with, but what brought me to tears was seeing all the shipmates who had survived Dec. 7th and go on to live full lives who had their remains buried there.
That, and when my wife was looking at the roster and asked me what a Field Musician was. I looked where she was pointing and it was under the Marines. Oh I said, he was the bugler.

Good for you, it's beautiful there. Let me know if you are going to have any time on O`ahu.
