2013 Ford Fusion
So my new company car is a Ford Fusion. It is pretty cool. You can tell that Ford owns part of Jaguar with the way the Fusion looks. It handles nice and the stereo is better than anything I have had. There is not much for obstructed sight lines and the seats are pretty comfy.
So the con: It has the 1.6L four banger in it. Oh my God! You jump on it and the engine sounds like it is trying to claw its way out of the hood. Not much on the power side. It has the ecoboost or whatever that is. I know they got the little engines to save money on gas. Now the other con. I have had the car for 3 days and it is already being recalled. Something about the engine catching on fire and Ghost Rider impersonations.
I would buy one of my own but with a bigger engine. I don't think I would change anything else.

Re: 2013 Ford Fusion
My experience with cars with small engines is that you can still get speeding tickets with them. Unfortunately.
Don’t believe everything you think.
Re: 2013 Ford Fusion
True, but going from zero to speeding ticket takes longer.nafod wrote:My experience with cars with small engines is that you can still get speeding tickets with them. Unfortunately.

Re: 2013 Ford Fusion
This fucking thing has a tendency to catch on fire, and you would still buy one as long as it had a bigger engine?

I'd wait until the Ford Atomic Fusion is out.

Re: 2013 Ford Fusion
Not all of the engines are turbos. There is the 1.6L and 2.0L. There have been 9 that caught on fire. They know what is wrong and are recalling them to fix them. Quite the shot in the nuts for Ford. I guess the Escape is being recalled too. Still pretty cool though.
Re: 2013 Ford Fusion
Have you given yours back to be fixed yet, or are you still rolling that death trap?
If you still have it, could you get one of those cameras like Nafod was talking about? Hook that shit up so we can see what it's like to go Ghost Rider and shit?
You could even figure out if the guys who put Nicolas Cage's Face On Things could help you go viral.

Don't turn it in. Knowing that it could burst into flames would be the most interesting part of driving a car out of Detroit.

I think Detroit has learned something. I have a Ford Edge that's served me well. No problems. It can't go off-road --- not designed to --- so I'm contemplating trading it in on, yes, a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Ginger Beard Man wrote:Good to see that Detroit has learned.I have had the car for 3 days and it is already being recalled.

Re: 2013 Ford Fusion
I have a filmmaker friend who shot ad campaigns in the last year for BMW and GM. He said BMW let him do anything he wanted. GM had a list of prohibitions, telling him he couldn't shoot certain cars from certain angles. When he asked why, they basically told him shit along the lines of "Well they never came up with a door for this car, so they slapped the door from this other model on it and they don't like the way it looks." There were several examples he gave to me like this, and he said his overall impression was that BMW won't produce a car they don't love, and GM knows they are still making crap. But he's just a misogynistic, moose bumping Icelander(really), so what does he know?seeahill wrote:I think Detroit has learned something. I have a Ford Edge that's served me well. No problems. My understanding is that Ford has done a much better job of putting its house in order than GM has.The Ginger Beard Man wrote:I have a filmmaker friend who shot ad campaigns in the last year for BMW and GM. Luckily, there's a used BMW for every budget, unless you drive enough for fuel economy to matter or you can't find an independent mechanic.

Re: 2013 Ford Fusion
Ford has their shit together. I have a Ford Expedition, that has been the best fucking vehicle I've owned. Runner up is a Ford Explorer I owned before the Expecition.
The only GM car I've owned was a fucking disaster.
All of my VW TDI diesels have been excellent commuting cars. Expensive as hell to fix if something goes wrong, but that is few and far between.

Re: 2013 Ford Fusion
I pretty much exclusively drive Fords (If I'd had half a brain I'd have taken the advice Bats gave here and bought a used TDI when gas prices were cheap-- my commute was insane for a while). They generally make three of four models (excluding the trucks, which are a whole different category) that are great to buy. In general they don't hold their resale value (that might be changing)-- great if you buy used, sucks if you buy new and trade in on a regular basis for another one.

Re: 2013 Ford Fusion
Ford sold Jaguar and Land Rover to Tata motors (India) back in 2008. Ford selling these brands, as well as refinancing all their properties, is the only thin that kept them from going bankrupt with GM and Chrysler.Holeyfraggaroley wrote:So my new company car is a Ford Fusion.
