Let me clarify that I agree with Fat Cat. I can't stand Rush.

Rush= 40 year career, much of artisitcally awesome.

P.E. = 5 years of greatness and then reality show bullshit.

Rush= Musicianship

P.E. = Having a good producer that makes all the music and then talking shit over the track.

Rush = Lyrics of immagination, lyrics about freedom and self relienc written by a genius who also happens to be one of the most peer respected drummers ever.

P.E.= Lyrics of communist inspired bullshit with occassional flashes of truth and a glimpse of genius.

But good for both of them.

As a longtime Rush Head, it's kind of nice to see them get the respect but at the same time they did not really need it from a group that honored people Rush infuenced before honoring Rush.

They could go on being ignored and it would not mean a thing to me. my old lady or my eldist son, who fucking loves them.

Alex has got a great sense of humor, is humble as hell about his abilities as a guitarist and musician (IMO better than 1 trick Eddie Van inHalen) and is not affraid to punch out a cop who's fucking with his son.

Half the sludged out deathmetal bands you cream over would not have even picked up their instruments if not for Rush.

Death, Grindcore, Speed, Traditional Metal, Prog Rock, Rush has influenced and inspired many of the top musicians from these genres to play. I have come across more props to Rush than any other band in interveiws with musician save the Beatles,Zepp and the great Sabbath. (And Jimmy Page was an early supporter of Rush, telling a reporter he did not know shit about music when he was critical of Page saying "I really like the Canadian band Rush, they are doing some of the most interesting things today." around 77-78.

Usually around this time in threads like this I ask for suggestions of what to listen to from RUSH that is actually worth listening to.

It's always the same...meh...response. A RUSH fan told me that if you listen to them high, they are a lot better so perhaps that's the appeal.

Fortified by listening to some RUSH on youtube I tackled a classic winter WOD:shovelling snow of the roof for an hour.I doubt that PE would have fortified me in the same way.

It really is such a meaningful gesture, being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

There, you get to join the likes of Donna Summer, Traffic, and Steely Dan, in finally being acknowledged for monumental and significant contributions to American music.

The hall of fame concerts are usually pretty awesome. I'll look forward to this one.

The hall of fame concerts are terrible, terrible, terrible. Either a bunch of craptastic nobody's you've never heard of, or a bunch of washed up commercially successful bands waaaay past their due date. "Hey look! It's Aerosmith performing one of their awesome rock songs from the 70s...followed by 6 ballads that made them a fortune."

The Hall of Fame, like award shows, is simply a way of making money. Trot out a bunch of STARS! and people pay to watch/visit. So they keep handing out more awards and holding more concerts and putting more retards into a BS "hall of fame."
