Where'd you find someone to do the shoving for you? Any luck on craigslist?

Bob,
In all honesty, I really am glad you posted this, but I'm not happy you had to go through it. I'm more glad (gladder?) that you seem to have made it through relatively unscathed.
Some dumb portagee.

You're really going to go there? In this thread?

Thanks, everybody. Your words of support mean much.

Hah. Well, I'm basically staying stoned on 'codone, not really stoned, but enough to take the edge off and enable me to function. I just had another epidural injection of methyl-pred done yesterday to calm the nerve down. The plan is to keep taking 'codone, do epidurals as needed every 3 months, and hope for the best. The cutters tell me that they can't guarantee better results than where I'm at now, and they recommend not cutting.

My doc kind of wants me to try Cymbalta. He feels that just b/c I had a bad reaction to Lyrica, I shouldn't give up. I told him I'm basically a pussy, and probably won't go there. His response was to basically say that it's my call, but he thinks I shouldn't rule it out. Having a good doc makes all the difference in the world.

It's been 14 or 15 weeks since I tore the hammie, so that should be healed.

I'm starting a new training block in the next couple weeks, focused on front squat, 18" DL, and log press, along with a lot of core work to hopefully take the loading off the spine a bit more and enable that nerve to calm down.

Mad props Bob. It takes a very strong individual to go through all of that and come back to center to reformulate a plan. I admire your fortitude through all this.

A note on the pain issue, I say this with the utmost sincerity but have you given thought to medicinal marijuana? I only ask because my grandfather has seen a big difference in his pain levels since beginning this treatment regimen, ie allowing him to cut back on his actual prescribed pain meds. For him a hit or two in the morning and afternoons has helped him immensely with his MS. I have read of others having similar success and was curious as to your thoughts on it.

Well, I've tried non-medicinal marijuana, but I didn't inhale.

Yes, it's great for mitigating the pain. It also really helps my muscles to relax, which is good. Unfortunately, I don't think all that clearly when high, and I make my living thinking clearly.

That's a hell of an ordeal, Bob. I'm glad you're back.

Damn. Bob, sorry you have been through all that. I'm still on Horizant without any significant side effects. I know someone who takes Cymbalta for similar pain issues and she swears that it took away all her pain. Good luck with it. Glad to see you are still training.

Keep me posted. Thanks, Amarillo
