All Star Superman (film)

Post by Turdacious »

I'm not a big Superman fan, but the story is one of my favorite Morrison runs. It tries to cover a lot of ground in a short period of time, and has to leave a lot out. Unfortunately they did so in a way that made the story a little choppy, but the ending change was different than the original and definitely added something different. The film was good, but it doesn't do justice to the graphic novels. Two of my favorite parts-- the Hercules parallel (from Greek mythology) running through the series, and the part with Jor-El were left out. It would have been better done as a 12-16 episode miniseries. It's streaming on Netflix.

They really did get a lot of the comic series right - I was impressed. But if you aren't of fan of comics, or at least of Grant Morrison's approach to superheroes, ASS probably won't be the movie that convinces you.
