Do you have any local recipes that can work in a haole's Minnesota kitchen in January?
I'm going to make some Loco Moco for the kids this weekend:

Simple blue collar fare; Hawaiian style.
IMO breakfast is something regular people have prefected vs the upper crust bitches. Eggs Benedict? Fuck that chump fare; I'd rather eat spaghetti with eggs and sausage sauce!
Cook spaghetti as normal, just as you drain the water mix in some uncooked, but scrambled eggs. The hot pasta will cook the eggs. If you're worried, throw the mess into a frying pan with some butter to make sure averything is cooked. This is a nice addition as you can brown up some of the spaghetti. Cover with sausage red sauce; hint use breakfast sausage for an interesting twist.
Another favorite is Pitsburg style Haluska.Bacon chopped up and fried with onions, cabbage, and egg noodles.
Corned beef hash after St.Patricks day is another breakfast favorite. Nothing more than frying left over minced corned beef, cabbage, and potatoes in butter.
All should be consumed with a beer after a Long run or other outside activity.
Understood and I honestly bastardize any recipe that comes my way outside of basics that cannot be fucked with (roux, for example). No need to dig around for specific recipes, I was thinking of a Hawaiian themed eats day is all and could use some ideas. My Loco Moco's rice is going to be 50% rice and 50% Vermicelli done Risotto style....pics will follow when done.Fat Cat wrote:Brah, the thing is we make that stuff without a recipe, just by feel. I will try to look around for you, there are some good Hawaiian food blogs out there. Hang loose.
The 4 buck Bento Boxes served-up by the Roach Coaches on K-Bay were some of my favorite meals. Adjusted for inflation, they're probably 15 buck Bento Boxes these days.Batboy2/75 wrote:Mickey O'neil wrote:Damn that sounds good. If I wasn't watching my weight I would make that in the morning.
