We got photos of him biking, hiking, jogging, playing basketball, eating pizza, eating at campaign get togethers, praying, attending Church and "looking Presidential" but not one, not one fucking photo of him holding a firearm. Even John Kerry got a photo of himself holding a shotgun and Mike Dukakis got one playing "tank commander".

This is typical Elitist Liberal bullshit. Al Gore owns an SUV, but god forbid any of you should own a gas-guzzler, because of Global Warming. Obama can enjoy firearms all he wants, but you sure as hell can't because sorry, you're just not smart enough.

Assault weapons laws are stupid, but it's technically not "elitist liberal bullshit" hypocrisy to state that one enjoys skeet shooting/hunting/etc. while seeking restrictions on magazines and black rifles.
He'd be a hypocrite if he talked up skeet shooting while trying to ban 28" O/Us, but he's not.

This was actually a major reason why it was so much easier to pass gun restrictions prior to the late '90s - hunters and the classy folks with $3k Berettas for their trap and skeet club didn't give two shits about Glocks and ARs. The world is different now - more of those people are on board with all types of guns.

This is related to Ronald Reagan having an abysmal record on guns (as Governor, as President and after), as did HW Bush - and even Dubya said he'd sign a reauthorized '94 AWB. It's hilarious to me when 2A people/groups slavishly quote Ronnie, who outlawed open and concealed carry in California and extended the state waiting period to 15 days. If Obama was pushing for a 15-day wait people would be shitting themselves.

Things have improved greatly for gun owners in the past 20-30 years. The right for an ordinary citizen to carry concealed has expanded to most states and the Supreme Court has decided that the Second Amendment applies to individuals.

Short of going on safari to bag a "big Tusker", Skeet and trap are about as elitist a gun sports go.

Real gun enthusiast call the crowd Obama is pandering to as FUDDS; as in Elmer Fudd. They don't give two shits about the 2nd Ammendment, so long as they get to keep their break action shotguns. They represent a tiny minority of gun owners.
