Good luck with the lawyer, suck situation to be in.T200 wrote:We have been involved with crisis for a while and yeah she can't see reason 'cause she thinks what she sees is what is and that everyone else is part of a conspiracy against her.Hebrew Hammer wrote:Often when someone is in that situation, their brain chemistry is so jumbled they will not see the light and say "you're right, I need some help." Keep mentioning "pregnant" and you should get help.

Re: I'M BACK
I've never been in anything quite so suck-tastic, but when faced with some similarly overwhelming choices, it helped to draw out a map on paper with squares and lines, with one side a single circle of where I am now and on the other side a bunch of where-I-could-be's which for you would include mom, baby, and you happy all the way to your wife in the rear view mirror. Then draw the intermediate waypoints and what has to happen at each stop, and what pieces of it you control and what you don't.
It helps to go through the exercise and explicitly identify what you don't control, because then you stop worrying (so much) about it and just do the best you can with the things you do control.
And take notes. It'll make a great Hallmark movie some day. Or the FX channel, depending on how it turns out.

She sounds a bit psychotic, the way my bi-polar nephew gets when he's having an manic episode. Hopefully they'll find the right meds for her.
If not start her on xfit, that ought to keep her occupied.

Welcome back T.
Sorry to hear about all this bullshit. I hope the both of you can find some peace and she can get the help she needs.
When you do write a book I'm with Peach I'll get it before it cools from the press.
Try and get some sleep if you can brother.

My wife is a therapist so I hear this shit every day. I could not imagine living together with someone that troubled. Good luck T.

Having had a stressful three years,..I get it.
Take care of your health.
Talk to friends, therapists if needed.
Keep your sense of humor.
Realize humans can live through almost anything. Odd as it sounds, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I'm living proof of that.
Hope things work out.

Bitches be crazy. That's a tough spot. Hope you get through it ok. I would strongly encourage you to see someone for counseling to have a valve to release the frustration you're feeling and to get help getting through a tough time. This isn't shit with a manual. Get help figuring it out and to help you to come through this with your own mental health intact.
Good thoughts to you.

Re: I'M BACK
Very tough, troubling situation, complicated by the pregnancy.
Having been through this --- minus the pregnancy --- I can say it looks like schizophrenia to me. Hearing voices is a tip-off. Auditory hallucinations. Did they diagnose her when she was first committed?
If schizo, it can be controlled to an extent by medication. (Pregnancy being the problem here.)
Sometimes people have it all their lives. It often starts in the late teens or early 20s. Some people just get better spontaneously. Some, like my college girlfriend, just never get better.
Best wishes to you in this difficult time.

Jesus. At least you're getting plenty of documentation so you can make sure you're the primary caretaker of the kid, no matter what happens.
Re: I'M BACK
welcome back, T. Keep yourself safe, too. Paranoid delusions and any evidence that she cannot take care of her own needs can contribute to involuntary commitment proceedings.

God damn T! Ironically, what you have written sounds very similar to my first wife. But the psychosis did not manifest itself until the post partum stage. Good luck.

Re: I'M BACK
Not trying to pile on, and I guess it's too late now, but was birth control not an option or something? My first wife transformed, Autobot-style, into a total bat-crap psycho after five years of marriage. When she became a she-devil, I made sure there was zero chance of me knocking her up. Last thing I needed was a crazy, soon-to-be ex-wife *and* a baby to go along with it. And if she did magically get pregnant, I was prepared to go nuclear and demand a paternity test. Don't know if it applies here, but it's something you might want to keep in your back pocket if you think the shoe fits.
Very sorry you're going through this, T. My ex-wife was nowhere near this bad, but it was a hellish 2.5-3 years before things just completely and utterly imploded. Worst time of my life. Hope you can land this plane and get on some solid ground soon.

Holy fucking shit, man. Fuck!
Welcome back. But dude, seriously, fucking WOW! My crazy ex seems like a church picnic in comparison. I'm really sorry!

Well fucking A! That is some heavy shit.
Is her family any help? At least in supporting you in trying to get her help? The only way this gets worse is some meddlesome dip shit inlaws.

They didn't get a full diagnosis (I think because she has several different mental problems I can identify plus who knows what I can't) but what she did get diagnosed for was an extremely rare subset of schizophrenia called the Capgras Delusion. It was so rare that none of her doctors had even heard of it except 2 (out of like 10 she has had contact with). It wasn't even in that big ass psych compendium.seeahill wrote: Having been through this --- minus the pregnancy --- I can say it looks like schizophrenia to me. Hearing voices is a tip-off. If you look up rare mental disorders it is top 3 on all lists.

Re: I'M BACK
It's not that birth control wasn't an option so much as she was told when she was 18 that she would never be able to have a child. That and being on steroids for so many years of the marriage (1999-2009) lured me into a false sense of security.JonnyCat wrote:Not trying to pile on, and I guess it's too late now, but was birth control not an option or something?
I would consider that nearly every decision I've made since I hit puberty has been at best the second best option available and many times it was the worst.
But therein lies the memoirs.

My wife does not believe any of her relatives are who they say they are and hasn't for years. She talks to no one currently in her family. Pretty much she talks only to me.Batboy2/75 wrote:Well fucking A! That is some heavy shit.

They are not meddlesome but dipshittery is rampant at nearly every turn in her family.
I have been talking to them since she has gone bad and they are definitely supportive but she won't talk to them.
Tonight I got some help from a police friend of mine and was able to get her emergent petitioned into a facility finally but we'll see how it goes. She could be there anywhere from 1 day to 1 year.
