He was never going to make it into custody, regardless who got him. That we all knew that is indicative of civil decay. The piece trash didn't deserve to live...but the Cops did not deserve the right to kill him. That's our collective right, not the whim of civil servants.

As much as I hate cops, I don't expect them to rush in a save a guy while he is firing at them. Even if they did start the fire. Dorner set the stage, via his actions, for the police to meet force with force.

Dorner should have set the police up to be filmed actually executing him. Film of the police shooting an unarmed Dorner trying to give himself up would have caused a real firestorm. Instead, he stupidly provided the police with the excuse to use the force they used.

Dorner killed Dorner.

You are childlike in your naivete. A person who assassinates officers of the law is refusing to exercise his right to due process of law before a civil jury. And officers defending their lives certainly don't have to sacrifice their own rights to protect those of a killer. This is the force of political reaction, it has always been thus. If LL Cool J wanted to plead his case, he could have done so.

The rights and duties in question have nothing to do with the cops, or Dorner. Fuck them both. The Public has a right to something approaching sensible due process and not the shreaking shit show we are blessed with every time a civil servant gets killed.

Everyone knows the Cops are going to act like pouting children. The public at large gives a lot of leeway in bringing people in, but ALL the victims of Dorner including the larger society deserve the benefit of due process. Instead, in typical squealing pig fashion,we get a virtual shut down of local LE while bystanders get lit up for driving the wrong car. This public spectacle sent one message only. The Police are paid gang, not a very well run Gang at that. They seem to think they have a tertiary duty to enforce certain laws some of the time. If this was anyone other than a cop killer, they'd have pursued him like an adult and worst case scenario, you'd have another Eric Rudolph. I'm betting the mentally unstable negro was not going to be too terribly hard to find.

I agree entirely as would most rational people. I am disagreeing with the argument (not by you) that if a person shoots a cop then another cop has the right to hunt that person down and execute them on site. Does this apply for other civil servants? Does the person need to admit that they killed a cop in a manifesto or could the police simply believe that they are probably, maybe, guilty? If you kill a banker, could other bankers run out and shoot everybody who is driving a vehicle the same color as you?

I would say that what happened to Chris Dorner was very much in line with his own personal concept of "justice".

They already perform background checks when you buy a firearm from a pawnshop. There is even a special Federal Firearms Licence for it. Nor is anyone upset over it.

No one is upset at his death, because it appears it wasn't extra-constitutional. Dorners actions in and at the cabin doomed him.

The two truck shootings do bother me and would like to see all of the officers involved fired and prosecuted for criminal negligence. However, we all know that will never happen. They are part of the little club that gets to negligently use firearms.
