I don't think anyone's posted about his passing yet.
I'm not a Lakers fan. My family's had season tickets to the Warriors for something like 13 years now, but he was a hell of an owner.

Re: Dr. Jerry Buss
I don't believe that people will really appreciate what he did until they see how far the Lakers fall over the next several years.

Re: Dr. Jerry Buss
One of the great owners in all sports.
Re: Dr. Jerry Buss
Definitely. Maybe the best owner.
Off the top of my head, the only other owner or ownership group out there that can compare is the Rooneys of the NFL. Aside from the Rooney rule, which is retarded.

Re: Dr. Jerry Buss
I used to think that the Lakers were experiencing their success because of Jerry West. However, they haven't really lost anything since he left. Then Buss steps aside and hands things to his son and they have screwed things up repeatedly.
A side note - I was googling the Rooneys to see the timeline of when who was running the team. I had no idea that Dan had been the Ambassador to Ireland?

The Rooneys are an interesting family.Terry B. wrote:I used to think that the Lakers were experiencing their success because of Jerry West. However, they haven't really lost anything since he left. Then Buss steps aside and hands things to his son and they have screwed things up repeatedly.

Re: Jerry West... nah. He's some sort of a consultant for the Warriors now. The team finally snapped a 6 game losing streak the other night, but I have no clue what West has actually done. They trotted him out last season at the preseason jump off thing they did for season ticket holders.
I couldn't understand a word he said, but knew the ownership was a mixed bag and they were psyched to have him on board.
Guber is some sort of entertainment bigwig and did some big stuff in Vegas.
Lakob makes me cringe a little. He's made some suspect moves, and I think his kid was accused twice last year of sexual harassment. Of course, the kid's like the assistant GM now, and I don't think he's even 25 now. Something weird.
I try to just catch the box score when I don't go to the game and don't pay attention to other team news.
It's nice to see the Lakers more messed up than our front office has been for... a couple decades.

What I've always loved about the Lakers is that they're not Jew owned.baffled wrote:The Rooneys are an interesting family.Terry B. wrote:I used to think that the Lakers were experiencing their success because of Jerry West.
