I like curry. So living around Pakis and Indian people and Afghanis (and Persians) never really bothered me at all. There was plenty of good food to be had, in DC, Fairfax, Falls Church all nearby to where I grew up. Large "Asian" population there. Never minded working around them at the IT jobs I had there either.

I DO have a BIG issue with American companies off-shoring American jobs to "Asians" in Asia though. But that is beyond the scope of this thread. And my love of a good lamb vindaloo probably is, too.

Anyway, I don't know what its like living in London but I will say that I legit LOL'd at that article, because living around tons of Indians and Pakis in the Fairfax VA area was a church picnic compared to what I dealt with in PG County, MD and later, Aliquippa PA.

I survived two years in Suitland/Morningside as the only skinhead they'd ever seen up-close LOL. Met some nice hard-working black folks, met some no-account, good-for-nothing niggers, too. Heard gunfire close by at least once a week.

In was glad to get out of there, when the ex-wife and I headed to Lusby.

Funny you should mention Hoodbridge (LOL). My first place was an apartment just off Rt. 123 by the Occoquan river. Though I am not familiar with the crew you mentioned.

He frequwnted the video atore i worked at and we'd sit around the shop, watch kung fu movies and talk a lot. I went on like that, not knowing any other skins besides Bernard, until my time at GMU, beginning in '97. That's where I met Baby Aaron (post-bonehead), Christina P, and Duke, as well a couple older skins from the now-defunct "Big Lushes Of VA" crew.

Huh. When in my early 20s I met these two Northern Hammer skins, they were about 30 ish. At first it was mildly interesting to get exposed to the national socialism, antisemitsms, and racism, since I'd never really met any folks like that before. They were very erudite while speaking on those topics.

However, they had a whole pack of dumb vicious angry young men with them, and I didn't like those guys at all.

The two started pressuring me to join, talking about how they needed someone educated and smarter for future officers...I resisted, it just wasn't my thing, but cut off contact completely after I saw the two older ones incite about 5 of the younger ones to do some shit I wanted nothing to do with, ever.

Extricating yourself from those individuals was a smart move.

It was an odd time in my life. One of those dudes was very scary, minimal tats, very smart, implied he was a career criminal. The other dude was just what you'd expect in a skin that grew out of a youth of violence, stupidity, and military service and decided to DO something about his hate, not just talk about it. More of a self educated guy.

But yeah, did not want.

I was fortunate in the sense that I'd already developed a tendency toward avoiding extremes in personal politics, and fell-in with folks who had the same apolitical, independent views that I did.

I did meet a kid once who had "claimed" that he'd been a Hammerskin, and "had reformed." I never believed that line one bit. I think it was a fiction, window-dressing to add some credibility to himself and whatnot. Never met or knew any of them. Same goes for KSS/Keystone United, never knew any of them personally but I do occasionally bump into them at metal shows. And I'll say one thing for the Keystone United crew- they're polite and they don't go out of their way overtly to start shit. You don't bother them, they don't bother you. But I don't cast my lot with those guys- I doubt they'd approve of my listening to old school roots Reggae, Ska and Ethio-jazz LMAO

I know- I read the piece you posted about Silat and Willie Wetzel, and a few others that mention The Burgh in-general. The Quip sucked. Hated it there. Moved a few miles away to Hopewell recently. Next on my list of goals is a nice little house near Greentree.
