I use a CAD site www.grabcad.com to find sample and reverse engineered digital design data all the time.

Many can be 3D printed as they are, others could be printed with some additional modifications. You can find most anything there.
Many can also be CNC milled.

Actually, the cost of material for many 3D printers would actually make your 3D printed nerf gun cost more than the one at walmart.

But not having to actually step foot into a sleazy ass wal-mart has to be worth something.
