FWIW, if there is a support group for family and friends in your situation, it might do you a lot of good personally.

I was once involved in what seemed like a hopeless situation and a group like that was more useful to me than 99% of the "professionals". It at least elevated my psyche from the 7th level of hell to the 3rd or 4th.

I have considered this bu as yet have not found anything of value to me. I do almost certainly require a massive psychiatric intervention myself at this point.

Well, until you find the right group, we're here. Most of everyone of us is nuts as a bunny...

Good luck

It may seem selfish but take care of yourself in this situation. You are hitting on a fairly decent score on the life-changes scale and, as was suggested, a support group or professional for you to see wouldn't be a bad idea. It's tough but she needs you more now than in any time in her life, as insane as she seems.

Definitely the right thing to do. In the event of a loss in cabin pressure make sure to put your own oxygen mask on first before attempting to assist others. Good luck!

We were young .She went off to college ,started running with some deadheads dropped a bunch of acid and she was never the same.Divorced her .She still lives on a ranch designed for those like her.The deck was stacked as I came to learn...she was half Korean...and LSD aint for everybody.

Shit, T. I've known a couple folk with misidentification delusions, and it's scary crazy. I don't know enough to help other than be here with the rest of this motley crew.

Don't beat yourself up and think that this situation is a result of a poor choice you've made. When the brain chemistry goes awry, the person can literally go away, sometimes never to return. Take care of yourself and do what you gotta do and get ready for T300.

Is this based off a behavioral diagnosis, or did they also do brain scans?

PS Good to see you back!

No psychiatrists ever ordered a brain scan on her.

She does have a history of seizures as well though. She refused to allow me to take her to a doctor for them in the past. In the 13 years we've been married I'd guess she has had 5-6 seizures I am aware of.

So my wife has been locked up for a week now and talking to her today I can safely say she is worse than ever.

Nothing she says makes even a slight amount of sense.

Still no hearing so they can court order her to get on meds.

I was advised by a lawyer (Jesus Christ I've been meeting with two different types of lawyers so far, family law and probate) to convince my wife to move back to IL and then attempt to get Legal Decision Making Authority there. That said my wife does not believe I am me so convincing her of anything may be rough (to say nothing of the joyful roadtrip from here to Chicago).

If she does not agree to go then my only recourse will be to file for divorce in AZ so that I can file for custody if/when the kid is born. It would be "extremely difficult" to leave the state with the child once it is born. Also it is apparently not a slam dunk that I would get the kid...apparently 1 in 3 schizophrenic women retain custody of the child in the US.

If I stay here there is no way I can care for my wife anymore in her current state (or even her halfway functioning state of the last couple years) and make money at the same time so I'd be looking at getting her a guardian and setting her up in an assisted living home. And if I'm working full time then I have to get a daily nanny.

There's like a million more gay details to this that are slipping my mind 'cause I've been popping Percs, cyclobenzaprine and drinking all night.

This is a real WTF.

Holy fuck, you have level set every problem/challenge I face at Level Disney against your woes. I know you only as a fellow wise ass on an internet forum, but you are clearly a dedicated husband and man of character. With that out of the way, your thought process of worst case scenario seems like the sensible route of your primary focus. Meaning, do what you need to do to gain custody and protect your unborn child.

My very best wishes to you and keep us posted as you see fit.

Seeahill is right, btw, we're all mostly batshit crazy 'round these parts, but I think you figured that out a long time ago. We are, however, generally a very helpful kind of crazy.

She was released Tuesday...back at home.

So far so good. She is on a 4 week time release injectable version of Haldol.

I wouldn't say she is 100% but she so far is as good as she has been in the past 5-6 years.

What great news. Glad to hear it.

On the meds, does she think you're you again?
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

Holy shit, just read through this saga. Best of luck T200. I can tell you that during my wife's second pregnancy she came down with a real bad case of pre-partum depression. I had to adjust my work schedule and was afraid to leave her alone. My wife also had a history of clinical OCD so when her hormones went kablooey it was a mess. We discussed putting her on meds at the time, but her condition wasn't as bad as yours is, and we opted to tough it out, but the benefits of the meds can certainly outweigh some of the risks to the baby. Those nine months should have been a joyous time for us, but they were brutal. Thank God after my daughter was born things settled down again. My wife even looks back now and thinks she's looking at a different person and not herself. The brain can do some crazy things. I wish you the same luck that I had. Just stay strong and hang on tight!
