Yes, I am a fire-fighter so public sector for now. I am hoping we get privatised along Danish/Swedish lines in the next decade, I see this as a positive step. Any other insights?
Your Pops was a teacher. You were born into socialism and growing up only saw your world in that perspective. As far as who is brainwashing you goes, you're too far gone to ever understand how and why. Over here you'd be a staunch Democrat in love with Obama.
Obama's narcissism and arrogance is only superseded by his naivete and stupidity.

What's even funnier is that you want your government to be like Sweden, a constitutional monarchy with a prime minister who has absolute power to run the entire show. Where taxes take over half of your paycheck and to add to it a VAT tax making all goods and services higher than any other country in the world. Either you're joking and trying to fool a senile old man or you're just plain stupid and don't no nuthin'. I believe the latter.
PS Why aren't you at Maggy's funeral today, paying respects and thanking her for saving your miserable country?

I have no idea what Sweden's government is like, I was referring to their fire service model. I don't think you're senile, just not a very good reader.
Thanks for the insult though. Dear old Maggie once said she was always very happy when people resorted to personal insults, as it demonstrated how weak their arguments were.

A perspective I hadn't read before.

http://www.opendemocracy.net/ourkingdom ... th-sea-oil
I have just listened to the extended edition of the BBC's World at One with a full hour of responses and reflections on Margaret Thatcher after her death was announced this morning. Three crucial words were missing. In all likelihood they will go unsaid in the many reflections, obloquy and eulogy, that will pour forth from left and right. Yet without them the policies that made her were inconceivable.

North Sea Oil.

Her 'conviction' would have been nothing but folly without the North Sea's black gold. It was oil revenues that bankrolled the unemployment, the destruction of manufacturing, the high-exchange rate, the termination of British coal mining, and the big-bang that turned London into a capital of global neo-liberalism and pumped growth into the South-East in the early 1980s.

You'll Hurt Your Back

basically I'm Raoul Duke trying to fit into a Philip K. Dick movie remake.
