It would still be better with Batman kicking Superman's ass.

DC's done pretty well with the Superman animated movies, hopefully it will be more like those than the last movie. Trailer looks promising (but so did the GL trailer).

They have been releasing trailers for that forever.

It looks promising but I am not sure about taking Superman down the dark, twisted path that has always been Batman's domain. I mean, he can fly, see through walls and is stronger than any 100 men combined - too much anguish and self-loathing could get old quickly.

How about a movie adaptation of Red Son?

there's an animated red son, but i don't think there'd ever be a studio with the balls to spend live action cgi money on a commie soops.

I believe this will work this time because everything seems to be in place...solid director, solid cast, new script, etc.

The Bryan Singer "reboot" was a complete fuck up. First of all, Bryan Singer is not the monumental talent that some have made him out to be. Second, the movie he made was basically an extension of what had been established in the Salkind produced movies. Depending on how nitpicky you want to be about story arcs and universes, it sure seemed like "Superman V".

The big thing is that they are not going back to the same old plot devices...no Luthor with the goofy sidekick and girlfriend (which they just combined into one role with Parker Posey in the Bryan Singer turd). No kryptonite (thank GOD).

Yes, they are bringing back the Kryptonian villains, and that was done in the second movie. BUT, that was hands down the best movie of the original four, and now they have the effects to do it right. As epicly awesome as Superman 2 was, the fight scenes were awkward and unsatisfying. So, if they're going to do something again, let's rehash some material from the best of the Superman movies and watch living gods battle it out on the big screen via CGI. This should make Avengers look like dogshit if they did it right.

So far, it passes the smell test, and if critics and audiences agree then this could do for Superman what Nolan did for Batman and we've got several good movies to look forward to.

Doomsday killing Superman would be a better film.

Exactly, Lex Luthor, Genious criminal mastermind that is constantly foiled by idiot girl. If he's that stupid, how'd he ever make his billions?

A campy Joker can work, a campy Luthor won't. As long as they keep closer to the Clancy Brown mold, Luthor is a truly great villain.

That has been rumored forever - the reason that Superman has been continually rebooted and why they are working on Wonder Woman. However, the Green Lantern made $15 and Christian Bale/Christopher Nolan have both said they are done with Batman so a few things, obviously, need to be worked out.

Somehow Zack Snyder made me excited for a Superman movie.

i hang out with a buncha nerds and they say that dc is definitely doing a justice league. there are plans in the works for a batman reboot to prep for it, but it doesn't seem like any of the other biggies will be getting solo films before the league flick. this superman is supposed to set the stage for the JL and cavil will (supposedly) play the boy scout the whole way thru. so say the nerds.

and if anyone actually wants to know the story of doomsday bitchslapping big blue, this is by far the best summary. FAR better than the actual comics.
