Re: Injuns
It depends when it comes to the word 'Navajo'. Some get offended when it's used and would prefer 'Diné'. I generally I don't pay attention to what others care to use. I go either / or.

Not a book on American Indian bushcraft, but it is essential reading.

From Wikipedia:
Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee by American writer Dee Brown is a history of Native Americans in the American West in the late nineteenth century that expresses a Native American perspective of the injustices and betrayals of the US government. Brown portrays the government's dealings as continued efforts to destroy the culture, religion, and way of life of Native American peoples in describing the people's displacement through forced relocations and years of warfare waged by the United States federal government.[1]

I took a Native American History course in college. We read quite a few very interesting texts, one of which was Crazy Horse and Custer. There were a lot more similarities between those two than not and it was an easy, fascinating read.

Re: Injuns
I didn't like it. First, it doesn't present a Native American perspective like it claims, it's a white one. Second, it presents them as little more than pathetic victims.Tirofijo wrote:Not a book on American Indian bushcraft, but it is essential reading.

Yes, I'm still painting. In fact, I'm getting ready to paint up a storm for Santa Fe Indian Market in August. A fellow virgo. My birthday is September 13th. I remember when you were still on Dragondoor under Andy60-something. I could say, "I remember when you weren't in diapers"
I'll try to remember to post some pictures of the better paintings to come.
