Hard to do when you can't get on at other departments. We have a guy from our department that followed his wife out west, Colorado I believe, and is laying carpet because his +10 years on our department still couldn't get him a lateral transfer.
Thanks for all the advice. Right now I am waiting on word to see if I have been accepted into an apprenticeship, if that falls through I have a temp job that will hire me permanently. Once I settle in to that job I will look into EMT school and eventually paramedic.

Good luck. Get your EMT and get some experience before you decide on medic. I still think you would be better served getting your ADN versus an Associates in Paramedicine.
