I do think it's worth pointing out that our democracy had a few bumps in the road before it was stable.

I find it encouraging that the US has expressed unwavering support for Mubarak and the stability that he brings to the...I mean the military who deposed of that awful tyrant...I mean Morsi, the democratically elected Pres...I mean the interim gov't who finally got rid of the Islamic gov't.

It's not like $1.5b could be used for any other purposes.

The odds are worse for the Arab Spring than they were for the French Revolution, which was a bloodbath. Culture matters, and the Islamic world view is hostile to individual rights.
