Some good chill music in the early morning

Post by nafod »

Drove back from vacation, hitting the road by 05:30 AM in order to beat all the traffic from the rental turnovers on the Outer Banks of NC. Was listening to some local beach station, and they kept playing great music I'd never heard before. Had to Shazam a couple to find out who they were, unfortunately missed some other good ones. Googled them up and ripped them to the iPod when I got home.

The first was a group called Dawes, and here's a live version of the song they played. Tasty guitar, nice rhythm, and neat lyrics.

...the radio version with the lyrics.

The second group I managed to Shazam was The Leagues. Cool song to listen to while the sun is coming up over the beach.

Wha? The song is a virtual aural Synecdoche, NY, which must hurt you and Gorbie's Loonie Toons sensibility. Guess you had to be there, and I'm glad you weren't.

Here's something you guys can dance to.

NaFod, aren't you/weren't you like a fighter pilot or something??!? What the hell happened? That might be worse than Dave Matthews and I've always thought nothing could be worse than that.

I thought that a man who is so secure in is heterogeniety that he could wear pointy-toed shoes would understand where I'm coming from.

My faith is shaken.

By the way, I like this song too. It's in the credits for The American, which has some hot foreign babe action. Thought it was a new retro song that sounded like it was from the 60s, but it actually is an old song from the 60s.

So I'm driving back last night, and its 1:00 AM, I'm in the middle of Ohio doing 90 MPH trying to get home, and I hear these two songs, which were perfect for the moment (need something to keep me awake and smiling). Quick Shazam button-mash for posterity...

Flying Burrito Bros, live raw jam with a running guitar lead through the whole thing. I hit a 100 MPH on a long straight by the end of it.

If Elvis was Meh-hi-can. Kicks into a whole 'nuther song at the 1:46 mark.

He's a half step away from doing 'parcour' in the park and making his own sandals.

Dawes is part of that horrible strain of Americana that prefers '70s easy listening country-rock to Johnny Cash. Fuck 'em.

I don't have a lot of experience with vampires, but I have hunted werewolves. I shot one once, but by the time I got to it, it had turned back into my neighbor's dog.

Music for preppy assholes to do coke to in the late 70's/ early 80s. :butthead:

Got the lyrics memorized, bro. And of course "It's a Long Way There", the "What's Going On" for below the equator.

More Call of the Mild music. I love Joan Osborne. Awesome voice and soul. You haters can all blow me.

No hiding behind the autotuner here.

I know for a fact everyone on here loves the hell out of some U2, so here's my favorite obscure live version of one of their songs. 11 O'Clock Tick Tock, played slower so it is "call of the mild" speed, but Edge's solo at the end is soaring.
