Re: Bobby Riggs vs Billie Jean King...FIXED!!
It was widely publicized that when Bobby played in the Wimbledon at 21 y.o., he bet $500 on himself with local bookmakers that he'd win the singles and doubles. He won , and I think was the youngest Wimbledon winner at that time. So he has a shady history of gambling on himself. He beat Margaret Court before Billy Jean handily, so most of the money was on Bobby to beat King. I think he probably did it.

Cool, okay:
--He crushed Margret Court, the world's No. 1 female player, four months earlier, 6-2, 6-1.
--Impeccable service game throughout his career, i.e. high percentage of first serves and excellent placement.
--Consistently physically prepared for important matches.
--Supposedly in debt to the mob.
--Conversation overheard with mobsters talking about the fix.
--Did not physically prepare for the match.
--Horrible service game.
--Had hoped and had planned for a rematch that King refused.
--King feels she beat him fair and square since she was a professional player and could recognize when players are throwing a match (tanking).
--Ha! But she never played anyone quite as good or as wiley as Mr. Riggs.
