Cutting cable TV, automated downloads?

Post by Grandpa's Spells »

I'm moving this weekend, and am considering cutting out cable TV. My wife has a couple shows she'd rather not miss, and when Game of Thrones comes back I'd like to watch it.

Understanding that not everything comes up on Amazon quickly, are there useful media server software out there that will download favorite shows within a few hours of their initial broadcast? Anybody actually use one?
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

Sickbeard, I think, is a Usenet crawler that downloads shows you schedule.

I'm not sure, I just Torrent because there are only 2-3 shows/week that I watch.
