http://bostonherald.com/news_opinion/lo ... le_tortureA severely malnourished pitbull endured months of torture that included having its limbs pulled apart in a medieval-style “drawing,” the vet who performed the dog’s necropsy told the Herald today as authorities plead with the public to help them find the “sadistic” person responsible.
A shaken Dr. Martha Smith-Blackmore of the Animal Rescue League said the fate of the brindle-colored pit cops named “Puppy Doe” before she was euthanized is “unquestionably ... hands down” the worst case of animal abuse she has ever seen.
“She was a rack of beaten bones,” Smith-Blackmore said. “Her joints were pulled apart like Medieval times. She was beaten, stabbed, burned over weeks to months and maybe her whole life. And could not walk. When I saw how vulnerable she was and I understood immediately the duration of her suffering, my heart collapsed.”
Smith-Blackmore said “Puppy Doe,” who was discovered by a passer-by Aug. 31 abandoned in woods near the Whitwell Street playground in Quincy, endured having a wrist, ankle and elbow separated from their joints and a leg bone virtually broken in half from being drawn “over and over and over. It’s a very intimate form of violence.
“I don’t know how they did it, but the force was tremendous,” said Smith-Blackmore, who had to step away from the necropsy “in order to come back to it.”
Mercifully, Smith-Blackmore found no evidence of sexual abuse, which she said is not uncommon in animal abuse cases.

When you set up your Google alert, do you simply use "dog+abuse" or do you need to combine "torture" and "sexual" in the string as well?Turdacious wrote:http://bostonherald.com/news_opinion/lo ... le_tortureA severely malnourished pitbull endured months of torture that included having its limbs pulled apart in a medieval-style “drawing,” the vet who performed the dog’s necropsy told the Herald today as authorities plead with the public to help them find the “sadistic” person responsible.

I read about this poor baby on Facebook.
I had written a response here, about the plight of these poor animals, but I fucked up and hit the refresh button and lost it. But fuck it. We all know how much I love these dogs, and I doubt anybody wants to listen to me go on an on about them anyway.
I hope they find the person who did this. And I hope he gets thrown in federal prison, and I hope he subsequently gets raped to death.

You'd like to believe that, but no. I'll give you credit-- that was less nonsensical than your regular responses.Terry B. wrote:When you set up your Google alert, do you simply use "dog+abuse" or do you need to combine "torture" and "sexual" in the string as well?

call me a fag, but I'm generally a pretty forgiving person.
Shit that I cannot get it into my head to even conceive forgiving someone for: animal abuse, child abuse, elder abuse. Just terrible. I hope to hell they find whoever did this so he/she can't hurt anything else.

Not the least bit faggy at all. Fuck grudges, we don't swallow arsenic and then wait for our enemy to die.Bud Charniga's gaping asshole wrote:call me a fag, but I'm generally a pretty forgiving person.

On the other hand, the person who would starve, burn, and draw-and-quarter a dog, isn't even a person to be forgiven at all- they're pure evil. It's a terrible thing indeed, and I hope they find the bastard, too.

Now I am old school in the way that I can love an animal but at the same time a dog is always a dog, does not equal a human. I do not think it's wrong to smack a bad dog upside the head or snout and a light punt to the body (never hard enough to hurt it) is sometimes warranted and a lot of animal people go stupid about that. And I will rub a nose in shit if they do it in the house repeatedly.
But real abuse of an animal, starving them, fighting them, hitting them hard enough to hurt them and then you get this evil shit makes me sick.
Instead of the law, I hope some one like you or I come across them doing some shit like that because then they would get what they deserved for sure.
There is just no reason other than fucking sadism to do shit like that. 6 Billion people on this rock, we need less not more. People who do this get right up on the list, after people who hurt children, who should just be shot if your trying to be human and beaten to death with a clawhammer if you give not a fuck.

Re: Puppy Doe-- bring out the chimps
Come on, this happened in the United States so people only care enough to type responses online professing their love for animals but not so much as to actually do anything.
Animal protection laws are virtually non-existant in all but few blue states like California and Oregon & Vermont, felony punishments generally don't exist, animal snuff films are protected by the first amendment, police aren't required to enforce laws on the books, anybody can own animals and 95% of the population stuffs their faces with animals tortured before death on regular intervals throughout the day. As long as you aren't transporting animals across state lines to fight them (and make a profit from gambling), the populace doesn't care. The poor dog in the article was rescued, fed, given pain medication then killed a few hours later because nobody really gave a shit about it.
Let's say the people who tortured that dog are caught. Everybody knows they will get a less severe penalty than if they were caught with a few ounces of pot and on par with somebody who has a stack of unpaid parking tickets.

For example, in Virginia, (not a blue state, notice) this would be a class 6 felony, 5 years jury imposed max plus additional 3 years at the discretion of the judge- but if it can be shown that the injuries were inflicted on multiple occasions (which seems extremely likely in this case) each occasion is a separate charge. If they can prove 3 separate occasions it could fall under the "three strikes" provisions which mandate a minimum 25 year sentence with no parole.
10 seconds on Google will show that police do charge on these offenses.

Welcome to Virginia, where we can have guns, carry them around (except in Richmond and half assed in Arlington) and we actually lock up sick assholes, just not enough of the 3 piece suit verity that work in DC.

To be fair, Virginia's more purple than red these days (Nova, Richmond and Charlottesville vs. The rest of the state), and Terry's absolutely right that animal cruelty laws could be stronger. Beyond that, Terry, what's your fucking point? Because the us could do better on animal cruelty, we're not allowed to be dismayed at animal cruelty? IIRC you're a Brit. I lived in London for a while. The area I lived in is probably a lot nicer now, but at the time it was a shitpile, decaying council estates filled with asbos and sad housewives, where an outing to the Tesco for crisps and lager counted as a fun outing. This was a deep red borough, during the height of Blair's Labour, but I didn't see any clamoring to nicen up the place. Does that mean that Brits (or anyone else) aren't allowed to say that's a little sad?

49 of 50 jurisdictions have felonies on the books but fighting is the only area that is pretty much on the books across the board is related to fighting, which is really about gambling. A good number of states have cruelty laws but try getting a felony charge for neglect or abandonment or even sexual assault. Recently, after a few cases where feedlot workers were found guilty (or shamed due to) animal abuse, laws were immediately strengthened...to make it illegal to take pictures of feedlots. If people really cared about such issues, strengthening such laws would be a slam dunk...or perhaps not "Hey, JimBud, you wanna make dog rape against the law?"Bud Charniga's gaping asshole wrote:To be fair, Virginia's more purple than red these days (Nova, Richmond and Charlottesville vs. The rest of the state), and Terry's absolutely right that animal cruelty laws could be stronger.
