In fact, Lemond rode in an era where it was much easier to get the shit, and testing was way less prevalent.

I seem to recall that a Tour De France thread was the ultimate undoing of the old Garage Gym board. I admire the athletic accomplishments of Lance as someone who grew up watching Indurain, LeMond, Millar etc. Fucking animal on a bike. Single-minded and stone-cold. But as a human being, he's pretty fucked up and threw everyone under the bus to keep his own wealth intact. He's a top level international class cuntoid. Not the greatest cyclist ever. Don't say that cause it's not true.
I have also never believed that Lemond was clean, even when he was riding. Oh, Floyd is dirty but not Lance...ok, Lance is dirty but not Greg. Wool meet eyes.
LeMond had the sense to get his win and then move on.

That seems redundant, IMO. Unless you mean it in the sense that erotica is what you like and porn is what you don't like.

It's not even close...King Eddy.
LA can lay claim to best big tour rider due to his total domination of TDF...but GOAT?
That's the man right there.^^^
In GOAT status B. Hinault belongs ahead of LA as well.

The Finnish runner Lasse Viren, "double-double" gold medal winner at the '72 and '76 Olympics in the 5K and 10K was suspected of it even back then.

GOAT isn't actually a title for an individual athlete. GOAT is an individual accolade given out by fans based on their impression of the athlete, not on their actual accomplishments. For there to be interaction, the athlete needs to be at their absolute zenith while the fan in question is at an impressionable age. In the NBA, Oscar Robinson or Wilt would need to be at the top of the lists for GOAT if all were equal. However, for most of us posting here, MJ or Bird are the GOATs because they were at the peak of their skills while we were 12-20 years old. Bodybuilding? Arnold, right? Golf? Did you say Ed Hogan? Football? Porn? Nobody but Shaf knows of Ed Deen.
Cycling is the same thing.

Eddy Merckx is the greatest cyclist of all time by any objective or subjective metric you want to use.

Merckx, who turned professional in 1965, won the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia five times each, and the Vuelta a España once. He also won all of professional cycling's classic "monument" races at least twice each (with 19 Classics victories in all).[2] Merckx was World Champion once as an amateur and three times as a professional, and he even broke the world hour record before retiring in 1978.

He cheated, they all did, and they all paid for it, at least most of them did.
Where he was a massive ass was the level of shit he put people through who said he did cheat. A denial wasn't enough, he had to ruin them.

LeMond never paid, Hinault never paid, Sean Kelly and Fingnon never really paid, Riis never paid, Merckx never paid....most of the greats even the ones who got busted ever really had to own up to shit..even when everyone knows the score. This is why the ones that stay quiet and off soapboxes are still revered and the twats like LeMond are despised.
