Because people who set the narrative have decided that it's the way things should be.
White vs. black = Racism. Black vs. white = Unfortunate (and understandably deserved) side effect of white racism.

Our betters have decided that the scarlet WR of White Racism is anathema in acceptable society and many people will go to ridiculous lengths to avoid that wicked stain, while others have developed identities based on exposing and purging society of WR.

Much like the Spanish Inquisition or the red scare of the 50's, no one wants to get caught in that buzz saw. See Paula Deen as a recent example. Andy could have said it better and pithier than me.

I didn't complain about them not mentioning the race. Go read it again. I complained about them not showing pictures/mugshots, which is customary of damn near every murder news story.

You're acting like I complained that reporters didn't dub it "hate crime" or something, which is putting words in my mouth. Just show the picture like every other news story, and people can make their own conclusions.

When I searched for it, nearly every story had a picture but give him a break. Combining race and the military demonstrates he knows his audience.
