Sad. Posted on FB.. He continued training as a boxer while in prison.... He was a robust man who changed much and lived to age 95. Hard to argue with,.. even if you don't like his point of view. He would have loved, IGX.

One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

I have South Africa news on my google feed after visiting there. Fascinating country. Obviously this is seismic for them.

On the one hand, he was a Marxist. Don't like that at all.

On the other, he listened to his people, helped the country through a period that could have devolved into something really nasty, and has served as a symbol of peace, tolerance and forgiveness since he was released from prison.

I'd say the second paragraph outweighs the first pretty heavily.

He died in bed. He could have died on Robben Island... or from the ANC's method of choice, the Necklace.

Here's some photos of what people who crossed his "freedom fighters" experienced...

Just because the Afrikaaners were bastards doesn't make him any damn good. Fuck him and the rest of the ANC Xhosa commie trash.

I've never paid much attention to him, but from all I've seen, after spending 27 of his prime years in the joint, his post-prison actions were those of a healer and a uniter - much unlike our president.

Sure, Doc, that's what the press says.... Look up "White Farmer Atrocities" online for the details of the "healing" and "uniting" going on.

Here's one of his friends, the President of Azania, singing a song called "Kill the Boer". Truth and reconciliation my ass....

If he would have come out and wanted to kill every bastard that had locked him up and then led the bloodiest civil war that we have seen in recent years, I would have understood. The fact that he doesn't makes him extraordinary. South Africa is a mess in many ways but the fact that it is as functional as it is is a testament to the man.

Look at Zimbabwe and marvel that South Africa isn't that, in spite of many wanting it to be. They somehow found another way forward.

When I was there and reading the papers one morning, I said, "holy shit, the places is going up in flames tomorrow, better GTFO of town." The guest house owner laughed and said they had a saying, "The worst never happens in South Africa."

Lincoln had that forgiving and forgetting thing going on before JWB changed history for the worse in America.

Winnie was a faithful wife all the while Nelson was in the joint. She just kept herself occupied fucking nigger kids and pulling trains with them. Is that so wrong?
He disappeared her in a hurry after he got out. When that communist settled things in South Africa all the niggers from the jungles flocked to Johannesburgh, took over and turned the place into black bottom Detroit after the whites all fled. He was a wonderful man.
Barack Obama tryin' to be just like him when he grows up.

Interesting comparison. Lincoln was a shitheel, too... maybe bigger than Mandela was when he was at his worst.

To me, concerning Mandela, it's more about the fact he mostly kept the lid on the powder keg when that place was ripe for a little Darfur style bloodshed.

When the day comes that any of you anti-establishment types finally have to rebel for real instead of just sharing 2nd Amendment memes on Facebook do you think your armed band would be on par with the old ANC for the deeds you'd commit in the name of your people, or would your resistance be more Ghandi-esque?

A generation later, wouldn't you want to write your legacy to be a little gentler?

The ANC put tires filled with gasoline around the necks of their enemies and then lit them on fire. I'd have the common decency to just put a bullet in their brain basket or just hang them.
Arms are the only true badge of liberty. The possession of arms is the distinction of the free man from the slave.

I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery.

Very interesting question. I don't want to contemplate armed violent bands in the US outside of the Crips, Bloods, and rogue SWAT teams, but would think that if the guns come out, it would be more in line with the IRA than the ANC or Ghandi. Though if disgusting violent acts were to be committed, I have little doubt that the gov't. would be the first to commit them. At the least they'd initiate them (See Ruby Ridge & Waco).

Personally, I see myself in the role of the guy who supported Ghandi but stayed home to watch TV because it was raining out.
