Raylan is not an anti hero, he's a strait up throwback to the Gary Cooper/John Wayne gunfighter type.

He's got some darkness, you can see he likes killing shitty people in combat but he only kills shitty people who go for him (Hence Justified).

I like how the character is the son of a criminal and you can tell Raylan could have went that way but his haterd for how his father was lead him to take the other side. The attributes that could have made him a good criminal is what makes him a good lawman.

Great character, unlike Jax Teller, I can totally get behind him. The Ol' Lady and I love that show.

Boyd is both the most interesting and complex regular character on the show, but also the conscience.
Without Boyd, Raylan is just a pussywhipped gunhand with a badge.

Boyd might be an amazing character, but I can't help seeing Shane Vendrell wherever Goggings appear.

He never confuses legality with right and wrong, and his generally honest struggle with morality in a world of shades of grey is why he's the conscience.

I hear ya Turd. Agree the world is grey, but I also tend to believe that rules exist for a reason. <shrug>

I guess >20 years in the military has made me somewhat tainted.

Now that is some quality acting imo. He is a pretty damn good actor. This is one of the highlights.

Tiggy was pretty freakin' hilarious here too.

Never watched Justified, really, just an episode here and there.

Now I'm on S1E1..it's on amazon prime.

Gonna enjoy this.

Other than the first episode, the first third of S1 is a little weak. The last half of season 1 is great.

It's a hard call between SOA or Justified for which has the worst theme song. I've been iced in and running through Justified S2 on Amazon Prime and that fucking song is driving me insane.

Justified's biggest flaw is anything involving Winona. Even when she's not in the picture, the show doesn't measure up to The Wire or Breaking Bad but she knocks it down a lot of pegs.

Why they chose to focus so much time on a weak character in Winona (with a weak storyline) was beyond me. They had gold with Mags and Loretta.

You know what I like about Justified the best? The writers can get a laugh from you damn near any time.
