 Anderson has always fought with his hands down and yet he is regarded as the greatest in MMA. This was the same Anderson who has been fighting in the UFC for years. It’s just a horrible gameplan to use against Weidman. While Weidman didn’t have the greatest accuracy in that fight, it was mostly because Silva wasn’t engaging. It’s difficult to hit a guy who is doing nothing but trying to avoid being hit. That’s Silva’s gameplan. Avoid strikes when you come forward and then mock you in an attempt to get you to fight stupidly.

As much as people like to talk about how Silva toys with his opponents, Weidman wasn’t going at 100% He was probing Silva, timing him and finding his range. The one time he fully committed to a combination, he flattened Silva.

What happened to this? I expected this to be the IGx thread of the year. Well, Baff and I have a bunch of tv watching threads that are really the best but the subject matter is less important than this most serious situation.
